Abstract

The introduction to electricity is initiated as early as elementary school, yet it remains a challenging subject despite its practical relevance. The inefficient management of electricity consumption in Indonesian households reflects a widespread lack of understanding in this area. Thus, there is a pressing need for an application to assist users in analyzing their daily electricity usage, promoting more effective management and potentially reducing household expenses. A MATLAB Graphical User Interface (GUI) application is proposed to facilitate users in managing their electricity consumption from providers such as the State Electricity Company (PLN), aiming for optimal utilization. Furthermore, this application could serve as a straightforward educational tool, particularly for physics students, aiding in the comprehension and practical application of electrical concepts in everyday life.

Abstract

Persamaan gelombang digambarkan dengan menggunakan persamaan differensial orde dua yang terkopel dengan fungsi dari posisi dan waktu. Persamaan ini dapat menjelaskan fenomena pada gelombang universal seperti pada gelombang berjalan dengan medium gelombang tali, gelombang air, dan lainnya. Dalam menyelesaikan persamaan gelombang diperlukan metode numerik mengingat bentuk umum persamaan gelombang merupakan persamaan differensial orde dua yang cukup rumit jika diselesaikan secara analitik. Disini, kami menyelesaikan persamaan umum dari persamaan gelombang dengan metode numerik dan menyajikan solusinya ke dalam bentuk Graphical User Interface (GUI) MATLAB, untuk memudahkan pengguna dalam menganalisa fenomena gelombang yang merupakan fungsi posisi dan waktu.

Abstract

Manual calculations for the superposition of more than 2 waves that have different amplitudes and initial phases are quite complicated so that assistive media is needed that can be used to analyze this phenomenon. The purpose of this research is to create a assistive media to analyze the superposition of waves with different amplitudes and initial phases. Analysis of the wave superposition formula using trigonometry formula and phasor method. Meanwhile, the calculation algorithm is written in the MATLAB programming language which is packaged in a GUI (Graphical User Interface) using the GUIDE facility. This media can be used to calculate wave equations and wave quantities resulting from the superposition of 2 or more waves. This media is also equipped with wave simulations resulting from superposition in the time domain. This media can be one of the innovative learning media to increase students understanding of wave material and at the same time provide examples of the application of the GUI in MATLAB.

Abstract

Quantum tunneling is a phenomenon where particles have a probability of penetrating a potential barrier despite having total energy llower than the barrier height. This study analyzes the tunneling effect by solving the one-dimensional (1D) Schrodinger equation using the finite difference method to obtain the wave function evolution for various potential barrier configurations. The solution is implemented in a Graphical User Interface (GUI) MATLAB to facilitate analysis and visualization, allowing users to interactively adjust potential parameters, energy, and other conditions. Simualation results demonstratehow transmission probability depends on energy, height and width of potential barrier. This GUI provides an intiuitive tool for exploring quantun tunneling, making it valuable for both education and research in quantum physics.
