Abstract

This paper is an attempt to discuss Islamization of economics in historical perspective. Focus of the discussion is not only the Islamization of economics but also realization of an Islamic economic system. This research is based on library research methods and supported by historical analysis. Conclusive information was collected from various studies and analysed for the conception of implementing methodological steps to realize the Islamization of the economic system. Studies were reviewed and investigated in three stages: general, exploratory, and focused learning. The findings of this study reveal that Islamization of economics cannot stand alone without the Islamization of every Muslim and the Islamization of society. Like Islamization of a society is realized with organization of Muslim families, Islamization of economics can be realized by increasing the number of economists who have knowledge of sharia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the level of efficiency of zakat institutions in Indonesia between 2014 and 2018. Zakat institutions are divided into three clusters based on the organisation's nomenclature: the government, public, and private groups. The division of these clusters aims to see differences in the management of zakat funds between each group. This study uses a quantitative research approach through the Free Disposal Hull (FDH) method to produce a more comprehensive average efficiency estimation than the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The sampling technique is purposive, and there are fourteen research objects observed. The government cluster is the cluster with the highest efficiency value. The private set comes in second, and the public group comes in third ranking. The high score that the government cluster earns is due to their primary business purpose, which focuses on managing zakat funds. The results of this study can be used as references for the policy establishment of zakat institutions in Indonesia.

Abstract

Maintaining waqf performance is important to ensure that waqf assets are well managed. The effectiveness and efficiency of waqf asset management is crucial so that progress can be measured. This study aims to evaluate the efficiency of waqf institutions in Indonesia during the 2015-2021 period using the non-parametric Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach. The research object includes six waqf institutions in Indonesia, with data obtained from the annual reports of each institution. The results show that during the observation period, no waqf institution has managed to achieve the optimum efficiency score. In addition, the efficiency trend of waqf institutions shows a downward trend, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. Through potential improvement analysis, this study succeeded in identifying the main factors causing the inefficiency of waqf institutions. In particular, output variables such as waqf fund receipts and disbursements become the main focal points for efficiency improvement.

Abstract

Information technology in the current era of globalization has a significant and positive impact on several business actors to produce and market halal lifestyle goods and services for a wider scale and market reach. The presence of information technology has created many business opportunities to introduce a halal lifestyle. In fact, the internet is very instrumental in these significant changes, especially in the process of transforming business towards digitalization. This condition decreases the cost of interaction and transformation and increases the amount of revenue. Interaction activities become easier because there is no need to be physically present or in person. In addition, it will bring up more alternative and cheaper options for achievement and wider opportunities. Online platforms such as sharia e-commerce can be used to meet sharia-based needs as well as achieve the goals of maqashid sharia and as a means of education to find out about the world's economy. Therefore, the researcher made a topic about sharia e-commerce innovation with halal products and education on the international level so that they can compete fairly with sharia principles. There is an e-commerce regulatory body so that nothing happens, such as selling goods that are not allowed. religion and do not commit criminal acts such as usury, cheating and hoarding. With a solution to every problem faced by sharia e-commerce from the seller and buyer side, the maqashid sharia approach will hedge the value of religion, soul, mind, descent, and property. Apart from the specialities, buyers and sellers are entitled to education about the Islamic economy, and updated news around the world is the subject of this qualitative research methodology.

Abstract

This research investigates the relationship between the Islamic Human Development Index (I-HDI), Unemployment, Population Growth, and their impact on Poverty in G20 countries from 2010 to 2021. A purposive sampling method was used to select eight countries: the United States, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Canada, France, and Turkey. The I-HDI was calculated using five Maqasid Shariah indicators. Unemployment was measured by the national unemployment rate, and Population Growth was represented by the annual population growth rate. A total of 384 panel data points were analyzed using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) regression technique. The findings reveal a robust negative relationship between I-HDI and the Poverty Rate, indicating that improvements in human development are key drivers in alleviating poverty. In contrast, Unemployment shows a significant positive association with the Poverty Rate, meaning that an increase in unemployment leads to a rise in poverty levels. However, Population Growth does not exhibit a significant effect on the Poverty Rate, suggesting that demographic changes alone are not adequate to explain fluctuations in poverty across the G20 countries. These results offer valuable insights for policymakers focused on enhancing human development and addressing unemployment to effectively combat poverty.
