Abstract

S.H. RAHAJU, H.J.D. LATUPAPUA & S.ABDULKADIR. 1987.The evaluation of some Rhizobium strains as the inoculants and then effects on the growth of Albizia chinensis and A. lebbeck. Suppl. Berita Biologi 3 : 38 - 44. A study was conducted to evaluate some Rhizobium strains on the growth of A. chinensis and A. lebbeck and used them as the inoculants. Three experiments were carried out under the green house conditions, the 0.5 gallon plastic pots were filled with sterile sand as the medium. The experimental design was carried out Completely Randomized Design with five replicates. The first and second experiments were implemented on A chinensis which were consisted of 10 and 7 Rhizobium strains respectively, whilst the third experiment was implemented on A. lebbeck by using 18 Rhizobium strains. Each experiment was lasted in three months. The parameters of investigation were dry weight of total plants, the plant parts above the medium surface, the plant parts under the medium surface, the roots and the nodules respectively, also was counted the symbiotic capacity. The results showed that all inoculated plants produced nodules except the plants that were inoculated with Rhizobium sttains Cg and Ri. The best inoculant was strain number 34 which implemented on A chinensis and A lebbeck.

Abstract

HJ.D. LATUPAPUA,S.H. RAHAJU & S.ABDULKADIR.1988. The effectiveness of some rhizobial strains as inoculants on the growth of Albizia procera and A. saponaria.Berita Biologi 3(8) 405 - 412.Four experiments have been carried out under green house conditions, using 0.5 gallon plastic pots, filled with 1.5 kg of sterile sands. The experimental design was completely randomized design with five replications. The first and second experiments were implemented on A.procera which consisted of 11 and 9 strains, lasted in 10 weeks respectively. The third and the fourth used 7 strains for each experiment, were implemented on A.saponaria, lasted in 12 and 16 weeks respectively. The results showed that all inoculated plants produced root nodules. In the experiments I and H,good results were demonstrated by strains number 34, 85 and 119, while strain Rsg showed very poor results.Rhizobium which showed poor results were strains Raf 1,Raf 2, Rap, Rss, Ri and Le. In the experiments III and IV, good results were demonstrated by strains 82 and 85,while very poor results were shown by strains Cg and Ri, poor results were shown by strains 34, 119 and Le.

Abstract

YUN INDIARTO, MULYADI & RAZALI YUSUF, 1989.The structure and composition of mangrove in Bikoen-Kupang,Timor.Berita Biologi 3(9): 455 - 457.Mangrove forests in EastNusa Tenggara cover a total areas of about 1930 ha(Darsidi, 1984). Little is known about the mangrove forest in that island, especially in Bikoen, Kupang Region. Therefore, the study has been conducted at the mangrove forest of Menipo Nature Reserve in order to analyse the structure and composition of the species.Four transects perpendicular to the coast line were used for data collection. At least, there were 12 mangrove species found in the forest, dominated by Ceriops tagal, Rhizophora stylosa and Bruguiera exaristata. Seedlings dominated the forest by 49,92%, where as the sapling were 45.43%.
