Abstract

The meaning of philosophy in Indonesian has become an interesting topics, especially when it is related to another concept, culture. Some Indonesian dictionary writers defined "filsafat" (philosophy) in many ways from different aspects. However, the definitions have not reflected the meaning accuracy, both from the linguistic pattern aspect and from its terminology. Besides that, the definitions, which come from Western, invite another question. If there is Western philosophy, then what about Eastern philosophy, especially Nusantara philosophy? That question is also discussed in this writing.

Abstract

Discussions in politics often focus on a broad range of political systems or political movements. This focus leads to the efforts to direct the public to the conversation of "Politics" in the sense of a system and it overlooks the fact that politics is built on the crystallization of ideas from individuals who interpret the condition of togetherness in the world. The interpretation is very important because it is the starting point for political discourse to grow and develop, which is often referred to as individual’s "political" struggle. The struggle involves a conversation between me and myself which is later embodied into an individual political idea. The effort to uncover the importance of "politics" within the framework of individual struggle becomes very important when the discourse provided by "Politics" reaches an impasse. This condition gives an impact on the quality of "Politics" that can cause a significant decline, that is "Politics" is not interpreted to achieve justice but only as a means of pursuing mere interests. This study applies qualitative methods based on theoretical and literary studies on Hannah Arendt’s existentialism, namely Vita Activa theory. The expected result of this study is to reconstruct the political concepts on the individual level that are necessary for human beings to be in the world.

Abstract

The shroud, a textile used to wrap and accompany humans in death, is far from a simple object. Within Islamic traditions, the white cloth applied to the deceased's body takes on various changes, modifications, and deeper meanings when individuals contextualize their own beliefs and experiences through it. This study focuses on the shroud's role in Islamic death rituals in Java, revealing a multiplicity of meanings as theorized by Mikhail Bakhtin's concept of heteroglossia. By employing a pragmatic semiotic approach, this research interprets and analyses the symbols that emerge from the contextualization of these textiles within Javanese death rituals. The study’s significance lies in its exploration of the cultural richness and symbolism associated with shrouds in Javanese Islam, thereby shedding light on the intricate interplay between religion and culture in shaping human experiences and beliefs around death.

Abstract

The undoubtedly multicultural condition of society encourages reconceptualize efforts of nation-state based citizenship. Nation-state-based citizenship is incompatible with the multiculturalism movement. This research aims to encourage efforts to reconceptualize citizenship in order to synchronize the conditions of multicultural society and the challenges of multiculturalism with the nation-state. Through the interpretation of Kymlicka's concept of multiculturalism and the adoption of the spirit of the cosmopolitanism movement, the researcher proves the urgency of reconceptualizing new citizenship as an effort to readjust to the conditions of multicultural society in order to achieve social compromise within society. Equal community life can only be achieved if there are equal recognition of the community's cultural diversity and the construction of inclusive community solidarity through a conceptual readjustment effort.

This philosophical study was carried out considering that the text of the Philosophical Foundations has fundamental weaknesses in it when viewed from a logical perspective. as well as Islamic spirituality, and Ki Hajar Dewantara's educational views as the founder of the educational philosophy in Indonesia with a religious and humanist character. This study aimed to explore Ki Hadjar’s thought as critics on Sisdiknas Bill and its implication of Islamic Education in Indonesia. The research questions are twofold. Firstly, what are the basic errors contained in the 'Philosophical Foundations' of the academic text of the 2022’s National Education System Bill. Secondly, what are the implications of the critics toward Islamic education in Indonesia. By using Bernadib's language philosophical method, the fundamental problems found in the 'Philosophical Foundations' text in the academic text of the 2022 National Education System Bill are uncovered. The analysis is then continued with the formulation of implications for Islamic education in Indonesia which is of concern to the majority of the Indonesia Muslim population. This research concludes there are crucial philosophical problems in 2022’s Sisdiknas Bill that could be in conflict with Islamic Education in Indonesia.
