Abstract

The purpose of this paper is the utilization of plastic waste as a means of cultivation oftoga with vertikultur system through environmental education in the community.Implementation method using stages that there is action research class. The results ofresearch, In the first cycle of the process of securing a toga made by the community inaccordance with the target. Strategic location supports the community to plant togawith vertikultur system. However, the community is still less maximal in the process ofperga's daily toga. In the second cycle, the gowns are varied, the containers used indifferent colors, and the location is widespread. Treatment of toga has increased peopleare starting to care about the toga that has been planted. In addition, the toga is alsoused by the community for everyday purposes

Abstract

Kemampuan bahasa Inggris dalam pengabdian masyarakat ini mengacu pada program cerdas pendidikan dengan memberdayakan mahasiswa untuk pendampingan kemampuan bahasa Inggris siswa sekolah menengah pertama. Fokus kegiatannya pada tata bahasa Inggris dengan materi Tenses. Sasaran kegiatan ini adalah 35 siswa MTs NU Durung Bedug Sidoarjo. Masing-masing siswa memiliki kesulitan dalam memahami materi Tenses yang dibuktikan dengan hasil pre-test. Kegiatan peningkatan kemampuan bahasa Inggris ini meliputi pre-test, penyampaian materi, penguatan materi, permainan edukasi, latihan soal, pembahasan soal, dan post-test. Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada bulan November 2021. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah siswa dapat memahami bentuk kalimat Tenses dengan suasana belajar yang  inovatif dan strategi pembelajaran yang menyenangkan. Selain itu, siswa dapat menerapkan bentuk kalimat tersebut dengan baik dan benar. Kegiatan ini menjadi bekal siswa mampu menjadi pendidik sebaya untuk kemampuan berbahasa Inggris.

Abstract

Deixis become an important function in oral communication. They can resolve confusion, ambiguity, and misunderstanding on meaning of utterances. Among the many formal communication forms, the speech of President Joko Widodo in G20 Summit closing event can become interesting to research in term of deixis study. This article investigates the type of deixis and what deixis is the most dominantly used in the speech of Joko Widodo at the G20 Summit closing. The data were described qualitatively by referring to Levinson. Using Miles and Huberman's interactive mode, the finding shows that among 47 of deixis used, person deixis was 25, temporal deixis 3, social deixis 14, and discourse deixis 5. Person deixis “I” was found to be the most dominant in the speech, which indeed conclude that President Joko Widodo showed himself the the holder of the mandate for holding the G20 Summit in Indonesia. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the locutionary forms of Ustadz Faqih Syarif’s motivation in the Thanks God Tomorrow is Friday event on Smart FM radio. Ustadz Faqih Syarif’s motivational illocutionary speech act in the thanks god tomorrow is Friday event on smart fm radio. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The method of data collection in this research is the method of listening. The source of this research data is a recording of the motivator event Ustadz Faqih Syarif in the Thanks god tomorrow is Friday event on smart Fm radio. Based on the presentation of the results of the research and discussion, it is concluded that the forms of locutionary speech acts in the Thanks God Tomorrow is Friday event are divided into two types, namely development techniques and indirect speech acts. development techniques are dominated by informative, descriptive speech acts, while narrative speech acts are declarative, interrogative and imperative.

Abstract

Nowadays, digital technology is in great demand because it offers easy access to a wide range of purposes and activities, including enabling innovation to generate business. The world of marketing will surely be heavily influenced by the advances of technology, the digital world, and the Internet. Marketing-based applications or e-commerce become the medium of sale and purchase transactions only but some have features as a program regulating the financial management of enterprises. Bukapalak can help UMKM perpetrators for media development, financial loyalties and new business opportunities. This dedication focuses on the perpetrators of the UMKM Village of Wadungasih, Kecamtan Buduran, Sidoarjo district. This dedication involves socialization activities with the stages of surveys, observations, and core activities. This dedication finds a lot of UMKM perpetrators who lack understanding of digital technology innovations as the times evolve. The purpose of this dedication is nothing more than a form of effort to develop and evaluate the progress of UMKM in an era of globalization where digital technology or e-commerce is used.

Abstract

Pendidikan prasekolah merupakan pondasi dasar dalam dunia pendidikan. Akan tetapi bagaimana jika pendidikan prasekolah ditiadakan. Akankah pondasi pendidikan tersebut tetap kuat atau justru menunjukkan ketimpangan pendidikan yang nyata. Ketimpangan tersebut membuat peran orang tua menjadi hal yang sangat penting untuk menjadi pengajar prasekolah. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan mengenai pendidikan prasekolah dengan melibatkan orang tua dalam proses pembelajaran. Metode yang digunakan adalah wawancara dan observasi. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara dan observasi menunjukkan bahwa para orang tua sangat antusias dengan metode pembelajaran yang dilakukan. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari minat orang tua untuk mempelajari metode pembelajaran untuk anak-anak prasekolah. Adanya pengabdian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan pemahaman dan pengetahuan kepada orang tua tentang metode pembelajaran prasekolah sehingga bisa memaksimalkan peran orang tua. Berdasarkan hal tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian ini sangat bermanfaat bagi para orang tua di desa pucukan sebagai langkah untuk mencegah ketertinggalan pendidikan prasekolah di desa pucukan.

Abstract

Vocabulary acquisition plays a central role in English language learning, yet many learners struggle to expand their vocabulary through conventional classroom instruction. Recent developments in digital technology have introduced alternative platforms for language acquisition, including Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs), which offer rich linguistic input and interactive environments. This study investigates how Indonesian EFL learners acquire English vocabulary through their engagement with Ragnarok M: Eternal Love, a popular MMORPG. Employing a descriptive qualitative research design, data were collected from 50 active players via an online questionnaire consisting of both closed- and open-ended items. The findings reveal that vocabulary is acquired incidentally through repeated exposure to in-game texts such as quest instructions, NPC dialogues, item descriptions, and player communication. Players employed various strategies for vocabulary learning, including contextual guessing, translation tools, and peer support. Social interaction, motivation, and gameplay immersion were identified as significant factors influencing vocabulary retention. These results support theoretical perspectives such as Krashen’s Input Hypothesis, Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Theory, and Gee’s Situated Learning. The study highlights the potential of MMORPGs as informal learning environments and provides pedagogical implications for integrating game-based learning into English language instruction. Abstract

Hate speech is now increasingly visible along with the increase in the use of social media specifically on TikTok where the comment column is often a space for language that demeans marginalized individuals. In response to growing concerns related to intersectional discrimination in digital communications, this study conducted a study of online hate speech aimed at overweight transgender content creators. This study aims to identify the types of hate speech with communicative intent contained in English TikTok comments. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method where as many comments have been collected on the TikTok account @al.weeezy from October to December 2024. In this dataset, where 28 comments containing expressions of hate have been selected to conduct an in-depth analysis based on the compatibility of the hate speech indicators, so that in order to ensure the validity of the data, the comments were carefully examined by being categorized according to explicit linguistic features by associating with hate speech so that this analysis determined the grouping of the types of hate speech expressed by Mondal et al. with a framework that has communicative intentions according to Kreidler. The results of the study indicate that hate speech about physical appearance is the most dominant type followed by attacks that target behavior with gender identity so that in terms of communicative, mocking and insulting can be interpreted as the most often used strategy in expressing hostility so that this result indicates that transphobia with body-shaming that has interaction with each other in discourse online by creating a layered form of discrimination so that in this study it can contribute to pragmatic and sociolinguistic analysis by emphasizing how linguistic strategies are used to build hate speech in digital communication and emphasizing the importance of encouraging more inclusive and responsible online interactions.

Abstract

For EFL students, vocabulary mastery is very important, but traditional memorization methods often result in passive knowledge. The vocabulary mastery mechanisms used by seventh-semester EFL students at Universitas PGRI Delta Sidoarjo after attending formal vocabulary classes were analyzed in this study. Ten students were selected through purposive sampling and interviewed in November 2025 using a qualitative descriptive design and semi-structured interviews. Thematic analysis revealed three interconnected themes: (1) Authentic Multimodal Media with Emotional Connections (films, music, social media), (2) Active Practice through Production and Error-Based Learning (conversations, writing, self-practice), and (3) Immediate Meaning Search with Contextual Understanding (online dictionaries with contextual exploration). The results of the study show that advanced EFL students use authentic materials and emotional engagement for deeper encoding and retention, shifting from teacher-dependent learning to independent learning. Compared to mechanical memorization, these techniques are considered simpler, more enjoyable, and more applicable. This study provides insights for creating more successful, steaudent-centered vocabulary training by highlighting the importance of contextual understanding, productive practice, and the transformation of error experiences in vocabulary acquisition.
