Abstract

In principle, hardness is water that is contaminated with cationic elements such as Na, Ca, Mg. In the most common hardness is sea water. In surface fresh water, Ca and Mg generally contain high levels (> 200 ppm) of CaCO3. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of zeolite media to reduce water hardness. The results of this study can prove that processing using zeolite with a thickness of 30 cm in well water can be said to reduce hardness. In replication I there was a decrease of 9.9%, replication II decreased by 35.2% and in replication III it decreased by 36.5%, while at a media thickness of 55 cm replication I obtained results of 21.3%, replication II of 28.3%, and in replication III there was a decrease of 39.4%, and at a media thickness of 80 cm, replication I obtained a result of 13.5%, replication II obtained a result of 43.7%, and in replication III there was a decrease of 79.9 %. Water is one of the natural resources that has an important function for human life and for advancing general welfare so that it becomes a major capital and the main factor of development..  Keywords : Media; Zeolite; Hardnes

Abstract

Flies are one of the insects (insects) belonging to the order Diphtera, have a pair of membrane-shaped wings. Flies are also species that play a role in public health problems, namely as vectors of transmission of digestive tract diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, typhoid, dysentery, and others. This study aims to determine the ability of cigarette butts to kill house flies (Musca domestica). This type of research is experimental. The samples in this study were 120 house flies (Musca domestica) with 3 repetitions for 15 minutes.  The results showed that at a dose of 100 g within 15 minutes after exposure, 5 dead house flies, 7 dead at a dose of 200 g, and 9 dead flies  at a dose of 300 g.  It was concluded that from the three doses used, the dose that was most effective in killing house flies was a dose of 300 g with 9 tails after 15 minutes of observation. So that people are advised to use cigarette butts as a natural pesticide. Keywords: Garbage, cigarette butts; house flies, natural pesticides

Abstract

Timbulan sampah dikota Makassar sebesar 64 juta ton per tahun. Kandungan sampah di Indonesia dipenuhi oleh sampah organik, yaitu mencapai 60% dari total sampah dan untuk kota Makassar sendiri didominasi oleh sampah organik rumah tangga yang mencapai 900 ton per hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan berbagai takaran lumpur Grey Water terhadap waktu kematangan dan kualitas fisik kompos (pH, bau, tekstur, suhu, kelembapan, dan warna) pada penguraian sampah organik. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan eksperimen semu. Penelitian ini terdiri dari empat perlakuan dan masing-masing perlakuan diulang sebanyak tiga kali sehingga terdapat dua belas percobaan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penambahan 150 gr lumpur Grey Water berpengaruh pada dekomposisi sampah organik selama 28 hari, untuk takaran 200 gr lumpur Grey Water berpengaruh pada dekomposisi sampah organik selama 25 hari, dan takaran 250 gr lumpur Grey Water berpengaruh pada dekomposisi sampah organik selama 22 hari dan hasil uji statistik Kruskal Wallis yaitu 0,012< 0,05. Dan telah memenuhi standar SNI 19-7030-2004. Kesimpulan penelitian ini kompos dengan penambahan berbagai takaran lumpur Grey Water berpengaruh terhadap waktu kematangan kompos, pH, suhu, kelembapan dan kualitas fisik kompos. Saran kepada peneliti selanjutnya agar dapat memeriksa kualitas pada lumpur selokan baik secara kimia dan bakteriologisnya. Kata kunci : Grey Water, Suhu, pH, Kelembapan.
