Abstract

Tanaman terong ungu (Solanum melongena L) tumbuhan yang dikenal bahkan dikonsumsi orang sebagai sayur. Tumbuhan terong ungu juga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai obat tradisional seperti menurunkan kadar kolesterol. Terung ungu (Solanum Melongena L) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang mengandung antosianin yang tinggi segingga dapat digunakan sebagai Pewarna alami pada sediaan kosmetika. Tujuan pada penelitian ini memformulasikan sediaan krim perona mata mengandung ekstrak kulit terong ungu sebagai pewarna dan melihat perbedaan warna dari variasi konsentrasi masing masing sediaan. Konsentrasi ekstrak kulit terong ungubyang digunakan adalah F0: 0%, F1: 8%, F2: 12%, F3: 16%. Metode ekstraksi yang digunakan yaitu metode maserasi. Evaluasi sediaan yang dilakukan yaitu pemeriksaan organoleptis, homogenitas, uji oles, uji stabilitas, pH, tipe krim dan iritasi. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa tipe krim air dalam minyak (A/M), uji oles baik, stabil, sifat fisik semua formula krim perona mata berbentuk setengah padat, warna coklat muda, bau minyak mawar, homogeny, pH rata rata dari 4,9-6,07, tidak mengakibatkan iritasi. Kesimpulan: Ekstrak etanol kulit terong ungu (Solanum melongena L) dapat digunakan sebagai pewarna alami dalam sediaan krim perona mata. Kata Kunci: Krim Perona Mata, Ekstrak Etanol, Kulit Terong Ungu.

Abstract

Gnetum gnemon L. has antibacterial activity against Salmonella typhi because it contains flavonoids, saponins, tannins, alkaloids, and steroids. Where these compounds play an important role as an antibacterial. The purpose of this service is to provide information to the public regarding the benefits of melinjo leaves which can act as an antibacterial agent. This service activity is carried out in the form of socialization using lecture, question and answer, and demonstration methods. The number of participants in this community service activity was 20 pharmacists at Grandmed Lubuk Pakam Hospital. Based on the results of the PkM activities carried out, it can be stated that there has been an increase in public knowledge regarding the efficacy of melinjo leaves as an antibacterial substance. This can be proven by the increase in post-test scores when compared to pre-test scores. The average increase in the knowledge of PkM participants was 21.5. On the other hand, the highest post-test score obtained was 85, while the lowest post-test score was 60. Meanwhile, based on the PkM material that had been socialized, the PkM participants understood that the results of phytochemical tests on melinjo leaf Simplicia showed that melinjo leaf extract contains compounds alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, saponins, and tannins. Meanwhile, the antibacterial test showed that the inhibition zones of various concentrations included a moderate concentration of 40%, a moderate category of 60%, and a strong category of 80%. The average diameter of the inhibition zone increased with each concentration of melinjo leaves.

Abstract

In developing countries, chronic gastritis is the most common type of gastritis with In various countries currently, chronic gastritis occupies a position as a frequently encountered gastritis disease, where the prevalence depends on geographic and socio-economic conditions. Gastritis is a type of disease that causes inflammation of the stomach mucosa. If you take osteoarthritis medicines such as NSAIDS without instructions for use, it will trigger gastrointestinal disease. Gastritis is one of the types of disease with the highest incidence rate. Age and gender factors are generally very susceptible to gastritis. Osteoarthritis (OA) is a type of arthritis that has chronic impacts and causes many public health problems. Osteoarthritis presents with many different symptoms. The aim of this PkM activity is to educate PkM participants in understanding the gastritis drug regimen that should be recommended to osteoarthritis patients and the rationale for treatment. Seminar activities are carried out using lecture and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) methods. The PkM participants were patients at the Batang Kuis Community Health Center, totaling 50 patients who were determined randomly. There were 30 male patients and 20 female patients. The questionnaire was chosen as a measuring tool to measure the success of this PkM activity. The PkM results showed that 90% or 45 PkM participants stated they were very satisfied with the rationality of using gastritis medication and there were 10% or 5 PkM participants who stated they were satisfied.

Abstract

White and bright skin is considered a symbol of beauty, success, and social status, especially in several Asian countries. This is the basis for feeling the need to care for skin, especially women. One way to care for your skin is by using whitening body lotion products so that it will produce an attractive appearance, where white and bright skin is the indicator. Finally, many women compete to use instant whitening products at low prices, but forget about the impact. Hydroquinone is an organic compound with an aromatic group that is usually added to some skin-whitening products. However, you need to pay attention to the levels and duration of use, because it can cause skin irritation and trigger cancer because it is a carcinogen. The hydroquinone level in the product is a maximum of 0.02%. This educational activity is carried out by combining methods, namely lectures, questions and answers, and discussions. PkM participants are 25 people from Lubuk Pakam. The PkM team also carried out pre and post-test activities to measure the level of knowledge of PkM participants after being given education. The PkM results provide new insight for PkM participants that some whitening products contain hydroquinone compounds at levels that exceed the limit, so PkM participants must know about the dangers of hydroquinone and how to choose safe whitening products. After being given education, PkM participants have experienced an increase in knowledge where the participants' post-test average score was 80,2 whereas the previous pre-test average score was 55,7.

Abstract

Introduction: Vitamin C is one of the nutrition acted as a antioxidants and effective addres free radicals can be destructive cells or tissue. Fruits are a source of vitamins C, which is a dragon red. Part of the dragon red during this rarely used is the skin. The dragon fruit is very useful to health, but in fact only thought of as waste farming has yet to be used as a good. This study aims to determine comparison levels of vitamin C on the flesh and the dragon red (Hylocereus polyrhizus) with a method spectrophotometry UV-Visible. Method: This type of research using the method of true experimental reseach stage includes preparation of samples, qualitative test,quantitative test, making the solution of the parent raw materials, determination of wavelength of vitamin C and manufacture of the calibration curve. The sample of this study is the flesh and the dragon red (Hylocereus polyrhizus). Results: Based on the results revealed that the fles and the dragon red (Hylocereus polyrhizus) contain vitamin C. Discussion: Levels of vitamin C on the flesh the dragon red of 0.05888 mg/mL and The levels of vitamin C on the skin the dragon red of 0.02533 mg/mL .

Abstract

Green mustard plants can be formulater into peel-off masks to moisturize the skin, because based on previous research green mustard leaves cointain flavonoids as antioxidants which can moisturize the skin. The purpose of this study was to find out green mustard leaves can be formulated into peel-off mask preparations and to find out the preparation and to find out the preparation off peel off mask with etanol extract of green mustard leaves can moisturize the skin. This study uses an experimental method. Green mustard leaves are extracted by maceration. In this study, a skin analyzer was usee as a mesure of skin moisture level after using peel off mask from a variety of dosage formulations which were divided into 5 preparations, blank (without mask, 3%,4%,5%), postive control (using peel off masks on the market). The Anova test results show a sig value of 0,000 or p<0,005 so it is concluded that the variabel has a difference. The conclusion of this study proves that the ethanol extract of green mustard leaves can be used as a peel-off mask for skin moisturizer, where the higher the concentration of mustard leaf extract, the higher the moisture vlue of the skin.

Abstract

Introduction: Basil leaf (Ocimum basilicum L.) is one of the most accessible natural plant in Asia such as Indonesia. Basil leaf vegetation contains a lot of flavonoid compounds and essential oils that have the effect as antibacterial because it can inhibit the growth of bacteria Streptococcus mutans cause dental caries. Streptococcus mutans is a round gram-positive bacteria that typically form pairs or chains during its growth. The purpose of this research is to know the antibacterial effectivity of ethanol extract of basil leaves (Ocimum basilicum L.) on the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria.This research was conducted with laboratory experimental research method. Basil lean ethanol extract was prepared by using maseration extraction method. Method: The method used in the inhibitory test using diffusion of the disc with 5 samples in each treatment group. The sample consisted of 5 treatment groups, ethanol extract of basil leaves with concentration of 100%, 80%, 60%, 40% and 20%. Result: The result of this study showed that ethanol extract of basil leaves with 100% concentration had inhibitory power of 10,26 mm (strong category), 80% of 9,65 mm (medium category), 60% by 8,12 mm (medium category), 40% by 7,33 mm (medium category), and 20% by 6,90 mm (medium category). Conclusion: The conclusion of this research proves that basil leaf ethanol extract has antibacterial power agains Streptococcus mutans bacteria with effective concentration is 100% with strong category equal to 10,26 mm.

Abstract

Soursop leaves (Annona muricata L.) are a plant that has many health benefits that can be obtained from the fruit, leaves, and seeds. Soursop leaves contain saponins, flavonoids, tannins, and alkaloids which can act as an antiseptic-disinfectant or as an antibacterial. Flavonoid compounds can be used as wound medicine, antifungal, antimicrobial, anticancer, and antiviral. In society, it is used by boiling the leaves and then drinking the boiled water. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of soursop leaf ethanol extract as an antibacterial against Salmonella typhi so that fever can be reduced. The dosage includes 100; 150; 200; and 250 mg/kg BW. No treatment was given as a negative control and chloramphenicol tablets as a positive control. Based on data analysis, it shows that there is a significant difference in body temperature after being tested using the t-test with a value of 0.000 < 0.05. These results prove that body temperature which was initially normal during the acclimatization stage experienced an increase in body temperature when infected with Salmonella typhi. The results of the One-Way ANOVA test also showed an effect on reducing body temperature infected with Salmonella typhi. From several doses, the EDDS dose of 100 mg/kg BW was able to reduce body temperature by an average of 36.5°C.

Abstract

Papaya seeds (Carica papaya L) have many vitamin contents that function to help increase immunity, fight free radicals, and also help increase skin moisture. Lotion is one of the pharmaceutical preparations in the form of beauty products that function to brighten and help increase skin moisture. In this research, a formulation of papaya seed extract will be made to become a lotion preparation that can increase skin moisture. This study tested the effectiveness of the preparation on the skin of volunteers. This study was conducted by making papaya seed extract through a maceration process using 96% ethanol, the extract was formulated in a lotion preparation in various concentrations. The resulting lotion was tested for homogeneity, pH, organoleptic, moisture and irritation on volunteers. Treatment was carried out for three days using lotion once a day. Lotion with a concentration of 3%, 5% and 7% which was homogeneous with a blank pH of 5.64, a 3% formulation pH of 5.84, a 5% formulation pH of 5.72, and a 7% formulation pH of 5.95 was found to not irritate the skin of volunteers, stable in room temperature storage. The results of the humidity test on Blanko were 43.3%, 3% formulation 45.2%, 5% formulation 49.95, 7% formulation 52.45%, and comparator 41%. The best result of the humidity test was formulation 3 with a concentration of 7% with an average value of 52.45%. Papaya seed extract can be formulated as a lotion preparation because it meets the physical test requirements of the preparation which shows that the preparation is homogeneous, the pH is stable during storage at room temperature, and does not irritate the skin. The papaya seed extract lotion preparation with a concentration of 7% provides a better humidity level effect compared to Blanko, F1 (3%), F2 (5%), F3 (7%) and also the comparator preparation.

Abstract

The skin plays a role in protecting bones and muscles, which are generally soft and elastic. In order for the skin to be well protected, internal and external care is needed. Internal skin care is obtained by consuming healthy foods. While external skin care is through the use of preparations directly on the skin. Several types of skin damage occur due to exposure to free radicals, such as exposure to UV rays. To avoid these dangers, a lotion that can act as an antioxidant is needed. Papaya seeds are rich in antioxidants that can increase skin moisture so that they are recommended as a basic ingredient for making lotion. The purpose of this socialization is to educate the public to be more concerned about health by using the right skin moisturizing lotion. PKM activities were carried out through socialization attended by 50 people around the Pantai Labu sub-district. The socialization material presented was about the use of papaya seed extract lotion as a skin moisturizer. The team also taught participants to be more careful in choosing cosmetics before using them. Increased knowledge was measured based on the pre-test and post-test values ??obtained from all participants. The results showed that there had been an increase in the knowledge of PkM participants, where the level of knowledge became high and very high with a percentage of 50% and 30%. Increased knowledge in the form of understanding about the preparation of papaya seed extract lotion that is stable and has a distinctive aroma. The lotion is also safe for the skin because the acidity level is appropriate and does not irritate the skin. This PkM activity has proven to have increased the understanding of PkM participants that lotions made from plant extracts are actually worthy of being used as an alternative for skin care.
