Abstract

Javanese family is smallest scope of Javanese society. Social conditions of thefamily can be represented in various ways through various media, such as through themedium of movie. Movie entitled Jokowi is a biopic film with Javanese background.The film tells the struggle of life in chronological order. The film depicts a life conditionsof character with the Javanese family, set in the period of 1960 through 2012. TheJavanese family concept from literature books that according with time frames or yearsof the story, is used as references for a family reading of social interaction that appearsfrom the primary data, they are pieces of movie scenes. This study aims to determinehow the Javanese family represented through the Jokowi film. The method used in thisresearch is descriptive qualitative method, with approach a representation theory ofStuart Hall as the reading method. Representation approach is used to posit the film asa medium that can construct the meaning through language (constructionist). So, it canappears 6 selected sequences, contains scenes which may represent a social life ofJavanese family inside the film. The results of this study showed a nearly balanced,which appears three equations, two shifts, and one difference. Equations that appearare: (1) social relations childhood in a family through the closeness between father andson was a toddler; (2) the status of teenage boys who attend school; and (3) a patternof domestic cooperation through the division of labor. Then, a shift that appears are: (1)the social status of the family through a way of having a baby; (2) the role of parentsthrough of punishing the child after a fight. In addition, one significant difference thatappear is the closeness of father and son through the way of greeting each other.Keywords: family, Jawa, representation, and Jokowi

Abstract

The aim of this research is the revealing the use of editing cross-cutting formed in Haji Backpacker’s film. This research uses qualitative research method: interpretative analysis formalist aesthetics approach, editing cross-cutting of Karel Reisz through Sergei Eisenstein’s montage theory. This research focuses on studying the aesthetic and the application of editing cross-cutting in Haji Backpacker’s film. Editing cross-cutting observed from the forms, functions, relations of themes, and motivation of existence, until analysis of Sergei Eisenstein’s montage, those are metric, rhythmic, tonal, overtonal and intellectual. The results of this research reveals the artistic meanings of Haji Backpacker’s film as formalist aesthetics, and editing cross-cutting’s concepts that formed in Haji Backpacker’s film by Danial Rifki through montage analysis of Sergei Eisenstein.

Abstract

Kabupaten Sukoharjo salah satu wilayah di Provinsi Jawa Tengah dengan potensi seni dan budaya, dalam konteks seni rupa, Sukoharjo mempunyai kekayaan budaya kain tradisi yang cukup kuat misalnya tenun dan batik. Dalam konteks dunia pembatikan, Sukoharjo terkenal sebagai produsen batik yang menjadi daerah penyangga dan penyedia tenaga pembatik untuk wilayah Surakarta sebagai pusat kebudayaan batik. Sementara itu kurangnya perhatian di beberapa wilayah dapat menyebabkan kurangnya pemerataan industri batik ini. Faktor penentu, seperti jumlah tenaga pembatik yang makin berkurang, kurang minatnya karena upah pekerja yang cenderung minim, dan daya jual produk yang relatif sulit. Seperti halnya Polokarto yang secara kesejarahan mungkin tidak termasuk daerah pusat batik di Sukoharjo menjadi memiliki sumber daya tersebut karena hasil pernikahan atau memiliki hubungan kekerabatan dengan wilayah pembatik, seperti halnya desa Bulu. Desa ini memiliki potensi kesenian beragam namun, kemampuan berkesenian seperti kerajian seni mem-batik sendiri hanya dimiliki oleh beberapa orang saja dan ini sangat perlu pendampingan agar dapat lestari dan berkembang seperti halnya warga di RW 2 Dusun Miri, Desa Bulu Sukoharjo. Adapun tahapan dari kegiatan pengabdian adalah; 1. Penyiapan modul tentang alat bahan serta proses batik sebagai media pembelajaran dan produk batik. 2. Koordinasi dengan Mitra PKM warga RW 2 Desa Bulu 3. Pengenalan secara teoritis melalui ceramah, dan persiapan alat dan bahan 4. Pelaksanaan Pelatihan dan Pendampingan Kegiatan. Luaran dalam kegiatan pengabdian warga masyarakat RW 2 Miri Desa Bulu Kecamatan Polokarto Kabupaten Sukoharjo mampu berbagi ilmu satu dengan yang lain mampu berkreasi dengan motif dan pola yang berkarakter kedaerahan namun berkualitas. mampu membuat produk yang siap pakai atau siap jual, publikasi Jurnal, Publikasi di media massa.
