Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that can have a bad impact on sufferers. One way that can help patients with diabetes mellitus to maintain a good quality of life is to carry out diet therapy. Objective: To find out whether age, education and family support are factors that cause diabetes mellitus sufferers to be non-compliant with their diet. Method: In this research, quantitative research was used using a cross sectional approach. The population in the study were patients suffering from diabetes mellitus in Teling Bawah Village, Wenang District, Manado City, North Sulawesi with a total of 45 respondents. Sampling was the entire population, namely 45 respondents. Results: From this study, results were obtained which showed that there was a significant relationship between family support and dietary compliance in diabetes mellitus patients based on the results of the Spearman rho test, which obtained a p-value of 0.002 (α=0.05). For age and education level, there is no significant relationship with diet compliance in diabetes mellitus patients. For age the p-value is 0.199 (α=0.05), and for education level the p-value is 0.076 (α=0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between family support and dietary compliance in diabetes mellitus patients, there is no significant relationship between age and dietary compliance in diabetes mellitus patients, there is no significant relationship between education level and diet compliance in diabetes mellitus patients

Abstract

Introduction: The application of therapeutic communication in nursing services is crucial as it significantly impacts the patient's recovery process. Ineffective communication can lead to inappropriate treatment or recovery, and treatment planning may not be suitable for patients with mental health issues. Several factors can contribute to nurses having ineffective communication, including high workloads and decreased work motivation. Objective: This study investigates the correlation between nurse workload and their motivation with the implementation of therapeutic communication for patients with mental disorders. Method: A quantitative study using a cross-sectional design with a population of 150 nurses at RSJ Prof. Dr. V. L. Ratumbuysang in Manado and a sample size of n=60. Results were analyzed using chi-square and Fisher's exact test. Results: There is a significant relationship between nurse motivation and the implementation of therapeutic communication for patients with mental disorders, with a p-value of 0.032 < 0.05. However, there is no significant relationship between nurse workload and the implementation of therapeutic communication for patients with mental disorders, with a p-value of 1.000 > 0.05. Conclusion: The variable of motivation affects the implementation of therapeutic communication for patients with mental disorders, whereas the variable of workload does not.

Abstract

Introduction: Elderly people experience a decline in physiological and psychological functions, which can have an impact on physical weakness, helplessness, feelings of worthlessness, from changes experienced by the elderly, can cause unhappiness and affect their quality of life. The quality of life of the elderly is related to the welfare of the elderly because it can be assessed from the health of physical and psychological conditions. The role of the family as a caregiver can have a positive impact on the quality of life of the elderly. Objective: To analyze the role of the family as a caregiver in improving the quality of life of the elderly. Method: This study used a cross-sectional approach, with a population of 80 elderly respondents and a sampling technique of 80 respondents. Results: Based on data analysis using the Spearman rho test, the results showed that there was a significant relationship between the role of the family as a caregiver in improving the quality of life of the elderly. Conclusion: There is a relationship between the role of the family as a caregiver and improving the quality of life of the elderly. Thus, the better the role of the family, the better the quality of life of the elderly

Abstract

Introduction: Cardiac arrest is one of the main problems in the cardiovascular system which can be fatal and even cause death. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is a fast and effective method for treating this condition, so it is important for people, especially teenagers, to understand and master this technique. Objective: This study aims to analyze the effect of e-learning and role play based CPR training on adolescent skills in Sion Village, Tompaso Baru District. Method: The research uses a quantitative approach with pre-experimental methods and One Group Pre-Test Post-Test research design. The research population consisted of 50 teenagers aged 13–19 years, with 15 respondents selected using purposive sampling techniques. Results: Based on non-parametric statistical tests using the Wilcoxon test with a P-Value 0.001. This shows that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means there is a significant influence on teenagers' skills before and after being given RJP training based on e-learning and role play. Conclusion: RJP training in the form of interactive technology (e-learning and role play) has had a significant impact on improving the skills of teenagers in Sion Village, Tompaso Baru District
