Abstract

Abstract The aim of study was to describe the implementation of teaching reading by using jigsaw technique for at Islamic Institute, includingthe lecture‟s preparation in teaching reading by using jigsaw, the steps of teaching reading, the teaching media, the students‟ response and the obstacles faced by the lecturer. This research used descriptive qualitative approach as a research design. The subject was 45 students of the second semester. The methods used in collecting the data were observation, interview, and documentation. The data were collected by using three instruments: observation sheets, an interview guide, and a questionnaire. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the English lecturer at the Islami Institute used Jigsaw Technique as a model.The data analysis was based on three concurrent flows of activities, they were: data reduction, data display, and verification.The result of this study showed that the students like to learn reading in English by using Jigsaw Technique. Abstract

Educational systems around the world are heavily affected by this outbreak. By Covid 19, online learning became mainstream because there was no traditional classroom instruction. The closest alternative to the offline class. Such a background, student awareness of online learning systems adopted at the university level during the Covid 19 pandemic is in progress. The study aims to identify the student perceptions'. Ease of use and usefulness of online learning based on the Technology Acceptance Model. Analyze factors that influence students' perception of learning English online, especially in the context of EFL. In this study, a descriptive approach based on the survey method and responses from 215 students in Islamic Higher Education of Tribakti were accepted. The data were collected through online surveys and structured interviews. Samples were used to obtain samples, and 215 students were interviewed for further search. Information about their experience during the learning process. Research results show students have a positive attitude toward online learning and therefore accept new things in a learning system. It also empirically demonstrates the importance of online learning during Covid19 at the time of the crisis. Several factors influenced student perceptions. These were perceivers, objects, and situations. Participants agreed to this online learning has emerged as a new way to improve the learning process and can continue to improve the learning performance

Abstract

Abstract English is the most widely used language in international communication. English language skills of Indonesian people are currently considered to be in the low category. The ability to communicate in English, which is increasingly needed, has not been well developed through education. This research aims to describe the students' difficulties in speaking English as foreign language in Islamic University of Tribakti Lirboyo. This research has a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques consist of condensing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusion. The research results show that there are some factors cause the students lack of speaking skill, those are: lack of vocabulary, incorrect pronunciation, can't find friends or partners in speaking, lack of self-confidence, lack of general knowledge, lack of speaking practice, fear of making mistakes, lack of use of words and grammar practice, low motivation, low participation, lazy reading, shyness, lack of use of dictionary, nervousness, fear of criticism.
