Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan menentukan perbedaan dan peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMAN 2 Pontianak yang diberikan pembelajaran menggunakan model siklus belajar 5E dan metode konvensional pada materi koloid. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah nonequivalent control group design. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas XI MIA 4 dan XI MIA 1. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes keterampilan berpikir kritis. Hasil uji t berpasangan diperoleh P-value = 0,632 > 0,05, artinya tidak terdapat perbedaan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa setelah diberikan perlakuan dengan nilai signifikansi. Rata-rata peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol sebesar 0,279 dan 0,174 dengan kategori rendah. Indikator keterampilan berpikir kritis pada kelas eksperimen yang mengalami peningkatan yaitu melakukan pertimbangan hasil observasi, membuat kesimpulan, mengidentifikasi asumsi-asumsi, dan memutuskan suatu tindakan dan pada kelas kontrol hanya indikator melakukan pertimbangan hasil observasi. Hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa peningkatan yang terjadi pada kelas eksperimen lebih baik dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Kata kunci: Keterampilan berpikir kritis, model siklus belajar 5E, koloid. Abstract: This research aims to determine the differences and improvement critical thinking skills students of SMAN 2 Pontianak given study using 5E learning cycle model and conventional method in colloid material. This research was conducted in form of nonequivalent control group. Samples in this research were a class of XI MIA 4 and XI MIA 1. The instrument was test of critical thinking skills. Results of paired t-test showed P-value = 0.632 > 0.05 that means there was no difference of critical thinking skills of students after being given treatment with significant value. Average of improvement critical thinking skills of students in experimental class and control class is 0.279 and 0.174 with a low category. Indicators of critical thinking skills in the experiment classroom that has risen was consideration results of observations, making inferences, identify assumptions, and decide a course of action and the control class has only indicator consideration results of observation. The results of research concluded that the improvement that occurred in the experimental class is better than the control class. Keywords: Critical thinking skills, 5E learning cycle model, colloid.

Abstract

Biopellets from sawdust can be an alternative solution for dealing with sawn waste. This study aims to determine the effect of sawdust particle size and adhesive content on the characteristics of the resulting pellets. The study was conducted in a completely randomized two-factor design. The first factor was particle size which consisted of 4 levels, namely fine, medium, coarse, and mixed. The second factor was the tapioca flour as adhesive material consisted of 3 levels, namely 10%, 15% and 20%. Pellets were made using a single die with a diameter of 8 mm which was pressed using a hydraulic jack with a capacity of 5 tons. Parameters to be measured included moisture content, calorific value, ash content, density, and pellet strength (durability index). The raw material of wood sawdust has physico-chemical characteristics including 9.4% moisture content, 6.04% ash content, and 18.58 MJ/kg calorific value. The results showed that pellets had specific gravity between 1.018-1.086 kg/L, moisture content between 13.26-14.42%, and ash content between 0.98-2.42%. The resulting pellets have an average strength of more than 99%. Keywords:  Biopellet, Calorific Value, Pellet Characteristics, Wood Sawdust.
