Abstract

This study aims to improve the initial reading skills by using word card media for grade 1 students at SD Negeri I Sidogiri. This type of research is a collaborative classroom action research conducted in two cycles. The results of the study show that learning to read the beginning by using word card media can improve the reading skills of grade 1 students at SD Negeri I Sidogiri. Reading skills in pre-action amounted to 62.74 and the completeness was 48%, in the first cycle it increased to 69.9 with completeness 74%, the increase in the second cycle was 76.7 with completeness of 90%. In this action the students' reading skills with pronunciation, intonation and reading comprehension increased until they reached the specified completeness criteria, namely with the class 70 average and 80% grade completeness. In the first cycle used a word card with a size of 13 x 6 cm and each word with one color, in the second cycle a word card that was larger than 18 x 6 cm was used and each word contained an expression of words separated by different colors.Keywords: reading skills, media of learning, word card

Abstract

In general, reading and writing Latin letters or Indonesian spelling as well as empirical teaching practices in formal and non-formal educational institutions, such as elementary and kindergarten, reading and writing for beginner not expressive categories are subjects that cannot be separated or have become compulsory for children to accept. The study used 2 cycles. The stages in each cycle are planning, action, observation and reflection. The results showed that (1) there was an increase in the ability to read and write students when using flashcard media. In prasiklus there are 8 students or 42% who experience an increase, in cycle I which is 12 students or 63% and in cycle II it becomes 17 students or 89% who complete. Likewise in writing skills, students experience an increase in each cycle, namely in the completeness cycle reaches 9 students or 47%. In other words, there was an increase in the first cycle of 13 students or 69%, and in the second cycle there was an increase of 17 students or 90%.Keywod: media of learning, flash card, reading and writing

Abstract

The application of varied lecture methods can arouse student learning motivation, because this method students can be active in providing responses to questions posed by teacher and students. Besides this method is also not boring students in teaching and learning activities, and the teacher can use a variety of media that is accompanied by fresh humor so that the classroom atmosphere becomes excited and the results achieved will be better. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is an increase in students’ motivation by using varied lecture methods. This type of research is Classroom Action Research. Subjects were 47 students in State Elementary School I of Sidogiri. In this study conducted 2 cycles. The results showed that in the first cycle 32 students got grades according to graduation standards and 15 students did not meet graduation standards. However, in the second cycle showed that 42 students scored according to the graduation standard and only five said and only 5 students did not meet the graduation standard.
