Abstract

This paper describes one way that teachers as educators can face the challenges of the industrial revolution 4.0, namely by instilling and preparing creative and character-based leaders. Education as character building can be implemented using Ki Hajar Dewantara's leadership concepts, namely Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha, Ing Madya Mangun Karsa, and Tut Wuri Handayani. The concept of leadership was first adopted as a cooperative learning model which emphasized exemplariness in group learning. The group leader is called tuladha and is the facilitator of the group. Tuladha utilizes the Internet of Things. Before the teaching and learning process in class, information, concepts or ideas, and examples are posted by the teacher to the tuladha. This study is an experimental study with the sample used meeting the prerequisites of the statistical test used. The results showed that students' mathematical problem solving abilities increased significantly using the Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha cooperative learning model over the usual method. The category of improving students' mathematical problem solving abilities that obtain the Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha cooperative learning model is in the high category.

Abstract

Mathematical communication ability is one of the mathematical ability in learning mathematics. This comparative design research aimed to see whether the mathematical communication enhancement of students who acquire Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha learning model is significantly better than students who acquire Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition learning model. The sample in this research are students of two grade 7th classes in SMP Negeri 5 Lembang, Bandung Barat. Students in class VII-D acquire Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition learning model, and students in class VII-B acquire Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha learning model. Results of this study showed that the students’ mathematical communication enhancement, both who acquire Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition or Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha learning model categorized as “moderate”. More further, the mathematical communication enhancement of students who acquire Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha learning model is significantly better than students who acquire acquire Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition learning model. Another result is that students like the learning model, either Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition or Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha. Key Words: Mathematical Communication, Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition, Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha.

Abstract

Abstract: Mathematical connection skills is the ability of students to connect mathematics itself, mathematics with other subjects, and mathematics with problems in daily life. This comparative research aims to compare students' mathematical connection skills through cooperative model the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) type and the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type. The sample for this research was students in two classes in SD Kartika X-3 Parongpong, namely class III B , and class III C. The instruments used is a test of mathematical connection skills that consists of a subjective question about the two- dimensional figure topic, and a non-test instruments in the form of student response questionnaires. The results showed that: The increase in mathematical skills of students who obtained the cooperative learning model Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) type and the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type are in the high category, but there is no significant difference in the increase in students' mathematical connection skills between the two learning models. Next, the results of the Student responses questionnaire indicate that students like the cooperative learning model Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) type and the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type that they obtain. Keywords: Mathematical connection skills, Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC), Teams Games Tournament (TGT)
