Abstract

This article discusses the story of Noah in the Qur'an. As a story contained in the Qur'an and the Bible, the story of Noah is very important to find the the differences between them. Therefore, the used approach  is intertextuality initiated by Julia Kristeva who tried to compare two narrations. By using this approach , we found many differences. In the structure of narration, al-Qur?an does many simplifications, so that the haplological principle becomes dominant in each fragment. However, in other fragments other principles are also found such as existence, modification, and conversion. The most basic difference between them is in theme of the story. The story of Noah in the Qur'an has monotheism or tauhid theme, while in the Bible the theme is human crime.

Abstract

Syahrur is a contemporary Muslim scholar who offers an innovative theory in Islamic law that is the theory of limits (hudud) which is divided into two namely the maximum limit (hadd al-A'la) and the minimum limit (hadd al-Adna). This paper will answer about how Muhammad Syahrur interprets the veil in Q.S. an-Nur [24]: 31 and al-Ahzab [33]: 59 by using his boundary theory. The results of the study of the two verses are on the minimum limit (hadd al-Adna) generally accepted is to cover the upper region (al-juyub al-ulwiyah), namely the area of the breast, under the armpit, and close the lower intimate area (al -juyub as-sufliyyah). While the maximum limit (hadd al-A'la) generally applicable is the part included in the category of al-juy?b, whether al-juyub al-'ulwiyyah or al-juy?b as-sufliyyah ie the whole body of women except the face and both palms.

Abstract

This paper describes the use of the robe for Tablighi Jama'ah in Masjid Jami 'Al-Ittihad Yogyakarta based on the hadith of the Prophet. They understand the act of using the robe is the sunna of the Prophet as well as their identity. While the theory used is the theory of social action initiated by Max Weber. According to him, every human behavior has a subjective meaning to the culprit and directed to others. The result of his research is that the social action in using the robe for Tablighi Jama'ah in Masid Jami 'Al-lttihad has several action models, namely value-oriented social action, purpose-oriented socializing actions, and traditional actions. The three action models have interrelated phases.

Abstract

This article discusses the study of the book Risa>lah Ahl as-Sunnah Wa al-Jama>’ah which is the work of one Indonesian scholar, namely K.H. Hasyim Ash'ari. There are several important issues that will be studied, namely the biography of K.H. Hasyim Asy'ari, the naming and background of the writing of his book, his method and systematics, the source and quality of the hadith in his book, the characteristics and examples of the hadith, as well as its strengths and weaknesses. This research is a qualitative research with a library research model. The results of this research is that the book Risa>lah Ahl as-Sunnah Wa al-Jama>’ah is a book that contains explanations on hadiths about death, signs of the end times and the paradigmatic differences between sunnah and heresy by using the method and the typical systematics of K.H. Hasyim Ash'ari.

Abstract

Double Movement theory initiated by Fazlurrahman is a theory that is basically used to understand the Qur'an. Through this theory Rahman invites interpreters to understand the Qur'an by not releasing the historical context in which the Qur'an is revealed, to then unearthed the general idea so that it can be confronted with the contemporary context. In this paper, the author tries to apply the theory to understand the hadith about tashabbuh. The result of the application of the theory is: the hadith about tashabbuh arises where the number of Muslim community is still limited, so to maintain its existence required identity politics; if confronted with the present reality of the number of Muslims who have spread throughout the world, then the hadith is no longer relevant to be applied literally.
