Abstract

Photocatalyst is one of the catalysts that works when given a certain light and generally is a semiconductor that has a full valence band and an empty conduction band, such as TiO2. Synthesis of chitosan-TiO2 nanocomposite research has been carried out, nanocomposites produced from squid cartilage as chitosan-?. Nanocomposites are synthesized by combining chitosan as a supporting material and TiO2 which has a function as a high photocatalytic. Characterization of chitosan-TiO2 nanocomposites by FTIR and SEM / EDX which shows the functional groups and surface morphology of the nanocomposite. FTIR analysis shows the absorption band of O-Ti-O in the region of 678.98 cm-1 and the typical absorption of chitosan at wave numbers –OH 3425.58 cm 1, 3834.49 cm-1, and 3873.06 cm-1. From SEM / EDX analysis it can be seen that TiO2 is evenly distributed on the surface of chitosan. Then nanocomposite was applied with wrna procion in Palembang songket liquid waste. Chitosan-TiO2 nanocomposites from squid cartilage were able to degrade procion dyes in water medium with the help of UV light at the optimum wavelength of 520 nm, where the percentage of photodegradation was 54.47%. Which nanocomposite is also able to reduce the concentration of procion dyes from 5 mg / L to 1.9 mg / L with an initial acidity (pH) of 10.34 to 7.13. Key words: Photocatalyst, nanocomposites, Procion Red

Abstract

Low carbon steel is the main component that is widely used in the shipping industry for the manufacture of ship plate materials. The ship plate is a material that is used as a leather ship that is directly related to environmental factors. Environmental factors such as temperature, air salinity, wind and the others. The influence of environmental factore are ship's plate. The research of this study was conducted a variable factors that influence changes in pH so as to corrode vessel plate material in a period of time. The research method used was immersion of ship plate specimens for a period on three months. The sea water media of used in Panjang Port and Bahauhen Port at Lampung. The measurement variables for  specimens are temperature, pH, and corrosion and then calculated based on Faraday's law. The research of based on the results obtained that are temperature variable can be to influence pH. This is evidenced by the value a initial temperature of the immersion a specimens in Panjang Port seawater medium of 29,1oC which is a pH value of 8,7 and changes to 25,8oC with a pH value of 6. The same is true with the sea water media, with initial Initially a temperature value of 31,12oC for H 8.4 within three months changed to 25,8oC with a pH of 6,0. Meanwhile, the regression values obtained were 0,994 and 0,995 which is showed changes in pH in sea water increased the corrosion rate on the ship's plate. Keywords: Temperature, pH, Corrosion Rate, and Ship Plate

Abstract

Proses pembuatan kapal sangat dipengaruhi oleh kekuatan bahan terutama material penyusunnya. Bahan  material dibentuk dengan menyesuaikan design kapal, melalui pembentukan pada lengkungan kapal. Kelayakan suatu kapal dapat diketahui dengan melakukan pengujian keuletan, kekerasan, kegetasan, elastisitasnya, dan dari segi lainnya. Pengujian tersebut yaitu Uji Bending, uji lengkung (bending test) merupakan salah satu bentuk pengujian untuk menentukan mutu suatu material  secara visual. Spesimen berupa material plat kapal Tanker 3500 LTDW HN. 309 dilas sesuai dengan prosedur WPS dengan bevel 300 untuk dilakukan proses uji bending. Hasil uji bending menunjukkan beban maksimal terbesar  didapat pada spesimen uji no. 2 (Root)  yaitu sebesar 3,42 kN dan beban terkecil spesimen uji no. 1 (Face) yaitu sebesar 3,07 kN. Kekuatan uji bending terbesar didapat pada spesimen uji no. 2 (Root) yaitu sebesar 1,10 kN/mm2 dan yang terkecil spesimen uji no. 1 (Face) yaitu sebesar 0,95 kN/mm2. Kekuatan pengujian bending rata-rata dari kedua spesimen uji adalah 12,34 kN/mm2. Hasil uji bending dilihat secara visual tidak memiliki adanya cacat las (defect)  dan daat diaplikasikan pada pembangunan kapal.

Abstract

Kapal merupakan sarana transportasi yang saat ini menjadi salah satu transportasi yang diperlukan bagi menunjang aktivitas masyarakat sehingga diperlukan ketahanan kapal dalam main engine untuk beroperasi lebih lama maka dibutuhkan sistem pendingin yang dapat membantu main engine sehingga tidak terjadi overheat. Main engine memerlukan sistem yang dapat menjaga kestabilan suhu maka dibutuhkan direct cooling system. Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan direct cooling system perlu adanya komponen pendukung yang dapat menyuplai kebutuhan direct cooling system yaitu sea water pump. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode FTA (Fault Tree Analysis). Metode untuk mengidentifikasi penyebab terjadinya kerusakan pada sea water pump yang akan mempengaruhi kebutuhan pada direct cooling system. Dari hasil penelitian ini di simpulkan bahwa untuk memenuhi kebutuhan direct cooling system perlu dilakukan pemeriksaan dan pengontrol yang lebih intens pada sea water pump untuk menghindari terjadinya kerusakan yang dapat menimbulkan peningkatan suhu pada main engine akibat kurangnya kebutuhan direct cooling system.
