Abstract

Abstract

Smartphone addiction has become a growing concern, potentially linked to negative outcomes in adolescents. This study aimed to analyze the influence of loneliness and aggressive behavior on smartphone habits among teenagers. Employing a quantitative approach, the research utilized a correlational design with a sample of 87 students. The study instruments included validated and reliable scales for measuring loneliness, aggressive behavior, and smartphone addiction. Data analysis involved multiple aggression analysis. The results revealed a significant association between both loneliness and aggressive behavior with smartphone use. This suggests that adolescents experiencing loneliness or exhibiting aggressive tendencies might engage in more frequent or problematic smartphone use. Building upon these findings, future research could delve deeper into the potential of digital education and media literacy programs to support healthy smartphone habits and reduce excessive use among adolescents. Additionally, investigating the impact of such programs on the development of guidance and counseling services for university students could be valuable.

Abstract

Parents with children having disabilities face heightened parenting challenges, rendering them susceptible to stress. This study aims to analyze the experiences of parents with disabled children, focusing on parenting stress, coping mechanisms, and social support. The study included 3 parents selected through purposive sampling. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to elicit information from each participant. The analysis revealed three main themes: coping with stress, social support, and parenting stress. Findings indicate that parents of children with disabilities experience stress due to their circumstances, particularly concerning stressors like medical services, education, emotional support, and societal stigma. Moreover, their concerns about their children's future pose a challenging aspect to control. Strategies to manage their stress include concentrating on emotional regulation, problem-solving techniques, and acceptance of their situation, although a minority of participants resort to avoidance strategies. Spousal social support significantly aids them in problem resolution, with some participants highlighting support from other sources as beneficial. The study underscores the importance of enhancing counseling services within communities to assist parents of disabled children in navigating parenting challenges effectively.

Abstract

Relationship between the Organic Matter Content with Post Harvest Period of Forest Industrial Plant Acacia mangium Willd (Sabaruddin, S.N.A. Fitri, and L. Lestari): Timber harvesting may have significant effects on soil organic matter content through mechanical disturbance, inputs of logging slash, alterations in litter production, and leaching of dissolved organic matter, as well as the alteration of temperature and moisture regimes.  To investigate the effect of post-harvest period of tree harvesting on the dynamics of soil organic matter content, surface soils (0 to 10 cm and 10 to 20 cm) were collected from intact Acacia mangium Willd. plantation (control) and from A. mangium Willd. harvested in 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2006 in four replicates.  Each replicate consisted of composited 4 sub-samples.  Timber harvesting reduced litter accumulation on soil surface.  However, the amount of litter accumulated on soil surface increased as post-harvest period increased.  Timber harvesting significantly (p<0.001) affected soil organic matter content both in 0 to 10 cm and 10 to 20 cm.  The increases in soil organic matter content were significantly correlated (r=0.85; p<0.001 in 0 to10 cm and r=0.62; p<0.01 in 10 to 20 cm) with post harvest period.
