Manshur Hidayat yang sengaja mengoleksi karena keindahan dan keunikan karakteristiknya. Keris Sumenep mempunyai karakteristik terlihat pada kelengkapan perabot yaitu hulu keris Sumenep yang memiliki bentuk dasar silindris ujungnya menyatu pada satu titik membentuk ikal, dan pada warangka keris mempunyai bentuk yang menyerupai bentuk udang, daun dan perahu. Sedangkan bilah keris Sumenep mempunyai gandhik tipis, pejetan yang terlihat dangkal dan datar, serta karakter pamor yang terdapat pada bilah mempunyai tekstur nyata yaitu jika disentuh terasa timbul dan tajam.
