Abstract

Breast cancer is the uncontrolled growth of cells or tissue in the breast. Chemotherapy is the first therapeutic choice for treating cancer. One of the symptoms felt by breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy is a decrease in sleep quality. Sleep quality is a person's sense of satisfaction with their sleep. Decreased sleep quality can reduce the body's immune system to fight developing cancer cells. The recommended nursing action to overcome sleep disorders in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy is web-based progressive muscle relaxation (PMR). PMR is a technique that focuses attention on muscle activity, by identifying tense muscles and then reducing tension by performing relaxation techniques to get a relaxed feeling. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of web-based PMR on sleep quality in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. The research design uses a quasi-experiment in the form of a one group pretest-posttest approach. The sampling technique was purposive sampling with a sample size of 25 people. Sleep quality was assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Statistical test using Paired T-Test. The results showed a significant effect of web-based progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) on sleep quality in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy (p value = 0.000; ? < 0.05). In this study, it can be concluded that there is an influence of web-based progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) on sleep quality in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. This study recommends web-based progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) as an independent nursing intervention to improve sleep quality in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Abstract

Abstract

Continuous chemotherapy causes side effects in children, one of which affects the quality of life of children. The quality of life of children with cancer can be improved by providing complementary and alternative therapies, one of which is art therapy. Objective: To determine art therapy's effect on the quality of life of cancer children undergoing chemotherapy. Methods: The design of this study was a quasi-experimental one-group pre-test post-test on 30 children with cancer who underwent chemotherapy. The art therapy in this study was coloring activities. Quality of life assessed using PedsQoL instruments (Pediatric‘s Quality of Life) Generic 4.0. Data analysis used the Mann-Whitney test. Results: The average age of children with cancer was ten, and more than half (53.3%) were male. Most of them were diagnosed with Acute Leukemia Limfoblastic and more than half (73.3%) were diagnosed more than six months. There was a difference in the quality of life of children with cancer before and after being given art therapy with a p-value = 0.000 (<0.05). Art therapy affected the quality of life of cancer children undergoing chemotherapy with a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05). Conclusion: Art therapy can improve the quality of life of cancer children undergoing chemotherapy. Keywords:  art therapy, chemotherapy, children with cancer, quality of life

Abstract

Documentation of pregnancy care is very important to monitor the health of the mother and the fetus she is carrying; often, this documentation is still done manually and sometimes irregularly. There is a need for a midwifery documentation system that can assist students in recording data regularly and accurately. SOAP of Midwifery Documentation (MD-SOAP) is a web-based documentation system designed based on the needs in documenting pregnancy care, starting from a thorough assessment of the patient's basic data, diagnosis, care planning, implementation, and evaluation based on the Varney mindset with SOAP documentation that is written in narrative. The purpose of this study was to identify the need for midwifery documentation in pregnancy care and design a prototype of SOAP of Midwifery Documentation (MD-SOAP). This research method is Research and Development (R&D) to design a prototype of SOAP of Midwifery Documentation (MD-SOAP). The sample of this study was part of the Midwifery Study Program students of STIKes MERCUBAKTIJAYA Padang, as many as 88 students. Data collection techniques by filling out questionnaires. Analysis of this research is descriptive, quantitative, and qualitative. The results of this study are the need for web-based midwifery documentation, obtained 100% of students stated the need for web-based documentation. So far, they have used documentation by handwriting methods, 83% understand the use of computers, and 72.4% understand the use of the web. The features available in MD-SOAP cover all aspects needed in pregnancy care. MD-SOAP has also been validated by media experts and midwifery experts specializing in pregnancy care, all of whom stated that this web is suitable for use. The results of this study conclude that the MD-SOAP web is suitable for use by students in documenting pregnant women.
