Abstract

Abstract. As the main factor of creative business, creative and innovative employees are indispensable resources to respond to a dynamic business environment complexity nowadays in an adequate manner. Therefore, an entity should be more flexible and punctual during the talent acquirements process, especially in a creative industry like architecture. The realization upon the importance of human capital determines the business unit to concern with precise human capital management practices, employee engagement, and psychological capital as preventive solutions to improve employee performance. However, the study whereby these variables are connected remains insufficient. Accordingly, this study aims to discover: (1) the relation between human capital management practices, psychological capital, employee engagement, and employee performance; and (2) the direct and indirect impacts among the variables with their significance. A questionnaire used for data collection that furtherly analyzed utilizing structural equation modeling by SmartPLS to examine the relationship between the variables. Expected outcomes of this research contribute to people and management topics, notably in human capital management and creative industry literature. For practical contributions, this research provides credible proves of how engagement and psychological capital have an essential role to be implemented in architectural firms.Keywords: Employee engagement, employee performance, human capital, psychological capital, creative industry

Abstract

Human capital department is found to have important roles in supporting the business objectives of a company. High competition in the customer goods industry makes the company strengthen its human capital department role because the human capital department becomes a strategic business partner. Most companies enhance their human capital departments internally, but internal resources have limitations in developing human capital department roles. The human capital department needs to look further to external resources that could support their roles. To strengthen human capital department roles through collaboration with external stakeholders needs further examination. This paper aimed to explore the external stakeholders in strengthening human capital department roles in consumer goods companies. Based on qualitative, semi-structured interviews of human capital leaders from five consumer goods companies in Indonesia, we identify six stakeholders based on the human capital department activities leading to human capital department roles. The external factors include outsourcing, vendors, government, business and professional associations, community, and university. Collaboration with these stakeholders strengthen the human capital department roles of consumer goods company.

Abstract

For the past 15 years, radio and music industry trend is decreasing. One of the causes is “disruption” from Radio Internet Pureplay such as Spotify, Joox, etc. Svara came with “Beyond Disruption” concept that can be saved radio and music industry by starting Radio Digital Transformation. Nowadays, the growth of IT Start-Up Company keeps increasing. which also followed by the increased number of skilled IT workers. The turnover rate over the IT Company also increases. Most of the employees stayed for a short period then moved to another company. This high turnover rate causes decrease in productivity that affected the revenue of the company since low level of employee engagement. In this paper, PT Svara Inovasi Indonesia will be studied and improved employee engagement. The factors of employee engagement level are measured through the data collected by questionnaire. The main objective of the study was to measuring and improving the employee engagement level on PT Svara Innovasi Indonesia. To measure employee engagement with suggestive improvements, the study uses 3 models; Gallup Q12, Aon-Hewitt Employee Engagement Driver, and Deloitte Simply Irresistible Organization model. The result is identified that “stay” component from employee engagement level is low. This caused by low level of recognition, rewards, and work-life balance. This could be improved to increase engagement level, productivity and reducing turnover.
