Abstract

Background: Goal 3 of Global commitment of 2015-2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) program is to ensure a healthy life and to promote well-being for all people at all ages in the 2nd achievement indicator targeting by 2030. It is hoped to end infant and under-five mortality that can be avoided, with all countries trying to reduce the Neonatal Mortality Rate to at least 12 per 1,000 KH and the Toddler Mortality Rate by 25 per 1,000 KH. Infant mortality cases caused by nutritional factors reached 53%. Several diseases that arise due to malnutrition include pneumonia (13.2%), diarrhea (17.2%) and perinatal problems (36%). Breast milk is the best food for babies and has the right balance of nutrients, is bioavailable, easy to digest, protects babies from disease, and has anti-inflammatory properties. This study aims to analyze the difference in the volume of breast milk before and after the mother received oxytocin massage with the Effleurage technique and a combination of innovative massage tools. Subjects and Method: This research is a quasi experiment. The study was conducted in the City of Kediri from August to September 2020. The sample used was post partum women on days 4 to 10 using simple random sampling technique. The dependent variable is the volume of breast milk. The independent variable is the type of oxytocin massage treatment with effleurage technique, and the combination of oxytocin massage with efflurage technique and innovative massage tools. Data analysis per treatment and control groups used the one-way annova test with 95% CI. Results: There was no difference in the mean volume of breast milk in mothers who received lactation massage using the innovative massage method (Mean= 21.65; SD= 15.43; p= 0.994), conventional Efflurage massage (Mean= 22.15; SD= 15.43; p= 0.330), and in control group (Mean= 20.50; SD= 15.43; p=0.386). Conclusion: There was no difference in the mean volume of breast milk in each group and this result was not statistically significant.

Abstract

Breastfeeding is a natural process, babies have the right to receive exclusive breast milk which is continued until the age of two years. Working mothers face challenges in balancing breastfeeding and work, thereby increasing the risk of premature cessation of breastfeeding in general and exclusive breastfeeding in particular. The purpose of this study is to identify the exclusive breastfeeding behavior of working mothers at Posyandu Bonto, Desa Sumberkepuh Village, Kecamatan Tanjunganom, Kabupaten Nganjuk. The design of this research is descriptive with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all breastfeeding mothers who worked at Posyandu Bonto, Desa Sumberkepuh Village, Kecamatan Tanjunganom, Kabupaten Nganjuk, with a total of 25 respondents. The sample was taken using a total sampling technique. The research results showed that the majority of respondents were aged 20-35 years (88%), had a high school education/equivalent (40%), worked as laborers and private employees (44% each), had working hours > 8 hours (52%), and distance between residence and place of work < 10 km (60%). All respondents had received information about exclusive breastfeeding (100%). Most sources of this information were health workers (60%). Most respondents provided exclusive breastfeeding for their babies, namely 14 respondents (56%). Therefore, in many cases, partners, family, friends and health workers must play their role in supporting working mothers to successfully provide exclusive breastfeeding for their babies.

Abstract

Manajemen laktasi merujuk pada serangkaian tindakan yang dirancang untuk memastikan keseluruhan proses menyusui berjalan dengan sukses. Kurangnya pemahaman ibu dalam pelaksanaan manajemen laktasi dapat menyebabkan gagalnya pemberian ASI eksklusif. Dengan menerapkan manajemen laktasi dengan benar, ibu dapat memenuhi kebutuhan nutrisi anak, meningkatkan kekebalan tubuh, dan mendukung proses tumbuh kembang anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi praktik manajemen laktasi yang dilakukan oleh ibu menyusui yang bekerja. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain deskriptif dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Posyandu Bonto, Desa Sumberkepuh, Kecamatan Tanjunganom, Kabupaten Nganjuk pada bulan April 2023. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah semua ibu menyusui yang bekerja di Posyandu Bonto, Desa Sumberkepuh, Kecamatan Tanjunganom, Kabupaten Nganjuk, dengan jumlah responden 25 orang. Sampel diambil dengan menggunakan teknik total sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan data primer yang dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner. Hasil pengukuran diklasifikasikan dalam skala ordinal. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis univariat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebagian besar responden memiliki perilaku manajemen laktasi pada kategori cukup, yaitu sebanyak 14 responden (56%). Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa sebagian besar ibu menyusui yang bekerja memiliki perilaku manajemen laktasi yang cukup. Tenaga kesehatan memiliki peran penting dalam memberikan pendidikan kesehatan yang tepat tentang manajemen laktasi kepada ibu.
