Abstract

Economic transactions titled sexuality has long been a commodity traded by the public since the colonial period. Prostitution is a classic problem that remains unresolved in Indonesia. Present prostitution becomes a paradox in the modern life of connoisseurs of globalization, so what is happening now is the commodification of prostitution which is called online prostitution. This paper focuses on describing the commodification of online prostitution as a critique of globalization that utilizes platforms / applications / websites to attract customers who are certainly different from conventional prostitution by borrowing the concept of commodification from Karl Marx. This research uses a qualitative method with descriptive type. The results of the research describe that the presence of globalization constructs the commodification of prostitution by the mechanism of using online media as a means to launch such activities. Globalization in a critical perspective must be seen as one of the threats that can attack cultural communities in the midst of the battle of digitalization in Indonesia. In wading through this problem, we certainly still must oversee all policies and good cooperation with various parties to be able to minimize the strong development of globalization, starting from strengthening legal standing, using social media wisely, to monitoring from various parties to be able to oversee all the bad possibilities that will occur through the vehicle of globalization.

Abstract

Silaturrahmi is an Indonesian culture which is done as a form of gratitude for God's favor providing health for people. The form of old-silaturrahmi is by visiting relatives in turn anytime, but usually for Muslims, it is done during the big holiday, such as Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. Unlike rural communities, silaturrahmi culture is a moment inherent in daily life, as in rural communities known for sambatan, rewang, mbecek, and ruwatan, actually not only those moments, when meeting neighbors and family usually take time to reprimand and sit together. This warmth is what is currently experiencing disparity in the development of technology that provides video call and chatting applications, such as WhatsApp. It is technological development that shifts rural communities in the culture of silaturrahmi, thus existing of new way to facilitate the silaturrahmi of rural communities, this shift not only creeps into the pattern of silaturrahmi, but the values of religiosity and a new understanding of the culture of silaturrahmi in rural communities that become our homework together, so that the value of religiosity in silaturrahmi culture is still maintained.

Abstract

This study aims to see how the Jombang women's social movement minimizes discrimination in public spaces and the form of women's social movement practices through the Berlian Jombang Women's School. This research was conducted in Tambakrejo Village, Jombang. The background of this research problem by women's issues in Jombang Regency based on data from the Office for Population Control for Family Planning, Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (DPPKB PPPA) there were 145 cases in 2019, 2020 there were 142 cases, in 2021 there were 103, the cases involved women and children in the district Jombang has experienced discrimination in public spaces, including Domestic Violence (KDRT), Violence against Children (KTA), sexual harassment, extramarital affairs, incest, intimidation, trafficking, rape, and others. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a case study approach. This type of research data comes from primary data where the data is obtained directly in the field. At the same time, secondary data comes from literature and official archives. The results of this study indicate that the form of the Jombang women's social movement within the Berlian Women's School provides a change in awareness and benefits for female school members. Such as being given entrepreneurship training, participating in socialization on gender mainstreaming, participating in comparative studies with other girls' schools, participating in cadre training in handling cases, being given parenting material, and being given an understanding of how to organize. From these several forms of practice, it shows that members of the Berlian Women's School take collective action with the aim of increasing understanding and also awareness of women in Jombang Regency.

Abstract

This community empowerment research examines the use of Maggots as an alternative medium to reduce organic waste on a household scale in Winong Hamlet, Sendang District, Tulungagung Regency. Maggots were chosen as an alternative that the community can do because their cultivation is relatively easy. The purpose of this empowerment initiative is to optimize the use of organic waste in households, thereby reducing organic waste in the Winong Hamlet area while increasing its value. The SLA (Sustainable Livelihood Assessment) method is used to facilitate empowerment activities. This study employs social ecology theory to offer significant implications for environmental conservation efforts aimed at achieving ecological resilience. The results of this empowerment show that the community in Winong Hamlet can accept the understanding about reducing household waste. Maggots are an opportunity to reduce organic waste produced from each household, efficiency is felt for the community who cultivate maggots starting from poultry feed because of its high protein content, fish feed, and can fertilize the planting medium, however, the obstacle felt is the selection of land that is quite far from residents because it produces an unpleasant odor.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the potential of urban farming as a way to create a religious environment in the Setia Jaya Tulungagung neighbourhood. Urban farming that utilizes limited land is known as urban farming. It serves as a source of food, helps education, and improves residents’ quality of life. For this study, residents were interviewed and observed using qualitative methods. The results showed that urban farming in Setia Jaya Tulungagung can strengthen religious values ​​through community-based activities that emphasize togetherness, environmental awareness, and wise use of resources. According to spiritual teachings, communal gardening activities teach residents to be more grateful and increase a sense of sharing. As a result, urban farming benefits food security and improves the community’s social ties and spiritual life.
