Prevalence of CTS that has been reported keep increasing each year, up to 276/100.000 cases each year. Aim: The aim of this research is to know if there’s a correlation between age group and carpal tunnel syndrome symptom on elderly at nursing home Santo Yosef Surabaya. Methods: This research use observational study with analytic design and the method that’s used in this research is cross sectional. Analysis in this research will be using spearman correlation test to know the correlation between variables. The population in this research is 154 elderly at the senior home facility Santo Yosef Surabaya. There is 70 elderly for this research sample. Results: From the analytic result, it has been found that the symptom severity (SSS) and age group and functional status (FSS) and age group is significant with the p score of p =0.0017 and p= 0.049 respectively, from the data that’s acquired from the result of spearman test it can be also concluded that from the coefficient correlation score of r=0.284 there’s a weak correlation between severity symptom (SSS) and age group, the correlation score of r=0.236 from the functional status (FSS) and age group indicate that it also have a weak correlation power. Conclusion: In conclusion, there was a significant correlation between age group and severity symptom in CTS (SSS). There is a significant correlation between age group and functional status in CTS (FSS).

Result: The result of this research obtained with most less level of knowledge in sport student activity units do 2 application of injury handling is 26 person (27,4%). Conclusion: This research show that significant relation with p value is 0,000 that mean they have correlation between level of knowledge and the implementation of injury handling in sport student activity units of Widya Mandala Catholic University Surabaya and correlation coefficient value is 0,728 that show a strong positive correlation, therefore if they have less knowledge level so the implementation of injury handling will be less too.

Abstract

Introduction: A fingertip injury is an injury to the most distal part of the fingers. Anatomically, the fingertip can be defined as the part located distal to the insertion of the flexor digitorum superficialis and extensor digitorum tendons on the distal phalanx, or the interphalangeal joint if referring to the thumb.Case Report: A male patient, approximately 40 years old, with an Allen grade III fingertip injury on the right ring finger due to a work accident, was brought to the Emergency Department. The patient was informed that he would undergo an occlusive dressing procedure with local anaesthesia. Evaluation three months after injury showed optimal improvement in both the cosmetic appearance and function of the ring finger. Conclusion: Semi-occlusive dressing may be more feasible than operative treatment because of its simple technique while still be able to give satisfactory results for the patient. However, there are several conditions where operative treatment is more preferable than conservative treatment. The patient’s preferences, existing comorbidities, and the degree of injury should always be assessed before choosing any treatment option.
