Abstract

One of the efforts to reduce infant mortality is through exclusive breastfeeding (EBF). The target of EBF coverage in the world shows a fluctuating trend that tends to decrease. One of the innovations needed to increase exclusive breastfeeding is through prenatal breastfeeding counseling. This study aims to look at the effectiveness of prenatal breastfeeding counseling on breastfeeding practice. This research used a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a post-test only control group design approach. The study was conducted in the working area of the Menteng Public Health Center in Palangka Raya in March-October 2018. Samples for each group were 20 respondents who met the inclusion criteria. The data collection tool uses a questionnaire. Data analysis included univariate and bivariate (Chi-Square and Odd Ratio tests). The results of comparative testing of the effectiveness of breastfeeding counseling found a significant relationship between prenatal breastfeeding counseling with breastfeeding practice p-value = 0.025 (p <0.05) with an Odd Ratio of 0.222 which means that mothers given prenatal breastfeeding counseling have the potential to give EBF practice as much as 1 / 0.222 = 4.5 times higher than mothers who were not given counseling. Prenatal breastfeeding counseling was effective in enhancing EBF practices.

Abstract

Breast Self-Examination (BSE) is a breast self-examination that is carried out to find an abnormal lump in the breast or detect breast cancer early, especially among young women who have not been exposed to information about BSE, especially among young women at SMK PGRI Sampit. This research aims to convey information and education among adolescents who have not been exposed to learning and knowledge about BSE, especially at SMK PGRI Sampit. The type of research used in this research is quasi-experimental research, with a "Nonequivalent Control Group Design" research design. The sampling technique used was the Nonprobability Sampling technique with the type of total sampling. The Wilcoxon Rank Test data analysis was used because it used a categorical measurement scale (Nominal/Ordinal) in pairs consisting of the pretest and posttest groups. The results of the Knowledge Analysis about BSE from the treatment group obtained p = 0.000, which means that there is an effect on the effectiveness of BSE learning through video media. In contrast, in the control group, the results are p = 0.253, which shows no influence from the knowledge of the control group on adolescent girls at SMK PGRI Sampit. Based on the results of the analysis of BSE practices in the Treatment group, a p-value = 0.000 was obtained, which indicated the effect of the effectiveness of BSE learning through video media, while in the control group, a p-value = 0.083, which showed no impact on BSE practice in the control group of adolescent girls at SMK PGRI Sampit. The results showed a significant p-value of 0.000 (< 0.05) which showed the effectiveness of BSE learning on video media for young women at SMK PGRI Sampit.

Abstract

In developing countries with high levels of morbidity in pregnant women, anemia is a significant health problem and is one of the risk factors for postpartum bleeding. One area with low Fe intake data in Palangka Raya City is Puskemas Jekan Raya. In pregnant women, the intake of Fe is low and thus should be suspected as an indication of the anemia triggering factor during pregnancy. Efforts to increase pregnant women's knowledge of anemia can be made through improving healthcare employees with information or health education; particularly video media consist of a combination of images and sounds. Three methods have been applied in the Community Service Activity Method, including the preparation, implementation of activities, and evaluation. The activity was carried out at the Puskemas Pembantu Bumi Palangka, Jekan Raya District, Palangka Raya City, using a class meeting of pregnant women. Media or aids used in performing these activities, such as paperwork, laptops, projectors, and videos on anemia prevention in pregnant women. This activity increases pregnant women's knowledge by 80%. In addition, pregnant women's classroom activities are also very beneficial because they improve interaction and share information.
