Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of mathematical communication in terms of students self-efficacy in learning type two stay two stray (TSTS) cooperative approaches with process skills. The method used in this research is mixed method with concurrent embedded design. This research was conducted in class VII SMPN 40 Semarang in the academic year 2017/2018 with class VII F as an experimental class subjected to cooperative learning model type TSTS approached by process skills and class VII G as a control class subjected to the Problem Based Learning model. Data is collected by tests, questionnaires, observation sheets and interviews. Subject taking techniques based on self-efficacy were taken 2 subjects for each category by random sampling. The results showed that the description of mathematical communication skills in terms of students' self-efficacy varied. This is shown from 7 students with high self-efficacy categories obtained mathematical communication skills in the form of 5 students in the high category and 2 students in the moderate category, from 21 students in the category of self-efficacy being obtained mathematical communication skills results in the form of 8 students in the high category, 11 students in the medium category, and 2 students in the low category, then 4 students in the low self-efficacy category obtained mathematical communication skills in the form of 1 student in the high category, 2 students in the medium category, and 1 student in the low category.

Abstract

Statistika dapat diartikan sebagai metode atau asas guna mengerjakan dan memanipulasi data kuantitatif agar angka berbicara. Penelitian ini lakukan di Universitas X Nusa Tenggara Barat pada prodi teknik informatika. Soal yang diberikan berjumlah 10 butir item yang  terdiri: 3 butir mencari modus,  3 butir mencarai median,  3 butir menghitung rata-rata (mean) dan 1 butir menghitung uji regresi linear sederhana. Mahasiswa sebagai subyek dalam penelitian dapat menyelesaikan soal dengan cara hitung manual dulu kemudian dilanjutkan dengan membandingkan hasil hitungan bantuan aplikasi SPSS, subyek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 28 orang. Adapun tujuanya untuk mengetahui  tingkat kesulitan mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan soal statistik. hasil penelitian yang dilakukan pada Universitas X Nusa Tenggara Barat prodi teknik informasi bahwa tingkat pemahaman mahasiswa dalam  menyelesaikan soal yang terdiri dari  mencari modus dengan rata-rata yang diperoleh sebesar 65,82. Pada  mencai median rata-rata 63,82. Sedangkan menghitung mean sebesar 66,75 dan menghitung uji regresi linear sederhana terdapat 58,18. Sehingga dapat disimpulakn bahwa mahasiswa tingkat kesulitannya berada pada kategori sedang.

Abstract

This This study aims to develop multimedia-based teaching materials grounded in statistical literacy to improve students’ mathematical communication skills. The development process employed the ADDIE model. The quality of the product was determined based on three criteria: validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Validity was evaluated by experts using established feasibility standards (≥85% categorized as very valid), practicality was assessed through teacher and student responses, and effectiveness was measured using a paired-sample t-test supported by learning gain analysis. The results show that the developed multimedia achieved high validity (material expert = 87.5%, media expert = 93.5%, learning expert = 94.45%), indicating that the content, design, and pedagogy are appropriate for learning. Practicality results revealed positive responses from students (84.9%) and teachers (87.5%), suggesting that the multimedia is easy to use and supports classroom implementation. Furthermore, the effectiveness test showed a significant improvement in students’ mathematical communication skills (mean score increased from 62.19 to 84.46; p < 0.05), which is supported by an average N-gain score of 0.523, categorized as medium. This indicates that the integration of statistical literacy contexts within multimedia facilitates students in interpreting, representing, and communicating data meaningfully. These findings demonstrate that multimedia grounded in statistical literacy not only enhances student engagement but also supports the development of mathematical communication skills through contextual data interpretation processes.
