Abstract

Instagram is a crowded arena with various information flows, from entertainment to religious content. In the religious context, narratives about da'wah in Indonesia have persuasive content, but some are provocative. Ideally, provocative narratives in social media preaching must be defeated by persuasive preaching. In this paper, there is a da'wah figure who moves the Islamic narrative of the school of love (Islam Mazhab Cinta), namely Husain Jafar Al-Hadar @husein_hadar. Specifically, this article highlights one of its contents on March 5, 2022, with the caption “Jika Kau Baca Buku, Pasti Kau Letakkan Senjata". This paper answers how the Islam Mazhab Cinta for Husein Jafar Al-Hadar through the perspective of meaning and media in the content. In addition, this paper reveals the extent of Husain Jafar Al-Hadar's message of peace through Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic analysis and structuralism. As well as what is the meaning of the denotation and connotation of the books and weapons in the content. From the theory and conceptual frame, it can be analyzed that the upload shows a message of peace following the social routines and da'wah activities that he advocates, namely theislam Mazhab Cinta. Finally, it can be said that the core of Husein Jafar Al-Hadar's Mazhab Cinta is the application of religious values related to faith, religious rituals or worship, and also the ethics of muamalah with the principles of maqashid sharia. In the context of worship, the aspect that is of concern is not only the matter of fiqh law and the procedures for its implementation but also paying attention to the inner meaning which impacts a life of harmony and love.

Abstract

This research explores the effectiveness of the policy on addressing sexual violence in Islamic boarding schools through the Gender Analysis Pathway. The study employs a qualitative approach using methods such as interviews, literature analysis, and document reviews. Interviews were conducted with female students of the Women Ulama Cadre Education Program of Great Mosques of Istiqlal (PKUP-MI) Master and Doctoral Degrees from who have a background as alumni of Islamic boarding schools. Additionally, they have a focus on the study of women and children. The main document analyzed is the Ministry of Religious Affairs Regulation (PMA) Number 73 of 2022 concerning the handling and prevention of sexual violence in educational units under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. As this PMA does not yet have Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), it remains open to suggestions for effective implementation, which this research aims to accommodate. The research findings reflect the collective view of PKU-MI female students, who desire the PMA to be enforced with firmness and strict supervision. Furthermore, a bottom-up approach that takes into account the experiences of sexual violence victims is needed to activate feminist perspectives and promote the enforcement of gender-responsive policies.

Abstract

This paper discusses the important role of tafsiralquran.id as a medium that voices Islamic moderation. In the current context, the voices of conservative-Islamist groups still dominate cyberspace, so it is necessary to take strategic steps to reverse the situation. This strategic move is known as the Escape from Echo Chamber movement. Echo Chamber is a digital algorithm that makes it easy to find the content according to the wishes of social media users. However, over time the Echo Chamber became a closed exclusive space. This algorithm is feared because the current condition is still dominated by conservative-Islamic groups. So, the important role of Tafsiralquran.id in voicing Islamic moderation needs to be present maximally. Moreover, digital commentary content becomes a reference because the slogan of returning to the Qur'an and hadith is increasingly existing in Indonesia. As qualitative research, this paper is described analytically. The results of this study are the Escape from Echo Chamber movement is interpreted as an effort by Tafsiralquran.id to socialize moderate digital interpretation in a real way, either through visits to educational institutions or through religious festivals typical of young people.
