Abstract

The application of 2013 education curriculum is a very drastic, significant and confusing change. Schools in Indonesia apply the 2013 curriculum starting in 2014/2015 academic year, including the Islamic religious lessons in schools. 2013 curriculum implements scientific-based learning models in the learning process. The main aim of teaching Arabic is that students are able to express themselves perfectly with expressions or writings and understand what they have read or heard and understand according to their age and talents. Reading is a basic skill for students. By reading, students can explore knowledge in other scientific fields. MTs Negeri 7 Kediri is one of the schools that implemented the 2013 curriculum in the teaching process, as shown by the completion of school facilities and infrastructure in each semester. LCDs and loudspeakers are some of the facilities supporting the application of the 2013 curriculum. Based on the above notions, the researcher determines the formulation of the problems as follows: 1. How students learn Arabic with the 2013 curriculum in the eighth grade in MTs Negeri 7 Kediri, 2. How students achieve reading skills, 3. Is there a positive impact on the application of Arabic teaching by using the 2013 curriculum on the achievement of reading skills of students. The method used in this study is field research with a quantitative approach. The starting point assumes that all symptoms observed can be measured and changed in numerical form. And with this type of ex post facto research, that is research conducted after an event occurs.
