Abstract

The Bible records differences in the formula of baptism. As Jesus taught in Matthew 28:19, those who believe should be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Meanwhile, in some parts of the Bible, the disciples command every believer to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. This study tries to describe the formula of baptism taught by Jesus. It is a descriptive research and used the Bible, books, and journals as the main sources. It is concluded that the formula of baptism in the name of Jesus does not contradict His teachings. However, because Jesus Himself taught that baptism must be in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, in practice, it is better to use the formula He had taught.

Abstract

Abstract: The prophet Jonah is a typology of Jesus Christ himself as Jesus revealed to the Pharisees. Therefore there are some similarities between Jonah and Jesus but there are also differences where Jesus is the antitype of Jonah. Through a descriptive qualitative approach with a literature study method, this paper aims to study the typology of the event that Jonah stayed in the belly of a fish for three days as a type in the Old Testament which describes the event of the fulfillment of the prophecy of the redemption of Jesus Christ as an antitype in the New Testament. The conclusion of this study is that Jonah was in the belly of a huge fish for three days, which is a picture of Jesus to state the events of His death for three days in the heart of the earth. From the perspective of language equivalent Yunus is a typology that functions as an antitype to Jesus, where Jonah did not actually die physically but Jesus actually died physically and then came back to life, Yunus is a prophet while Jesus is the Son of God himself who has more authority from Jonah, Jonah's proclamation of God's salvation to the inhabitants of Nineveh occurred only once while Jesus Christ's preaching of salvation for mankind occurred until now and in the future, Jonah is not like Jesus because Jonah fled from God's calling and work, while Jesus from the beginning accepted God's mission for the salvation of mankind. But there are also similarities in the revelation of salvation, where through Jonah salvation was revealed to the repentant people of Nineveh and through Jesus salvation was revealed to all repentant mankind.

Abstract

The rhetorical method is one of the prominent literary styles in the first century AD. Paul, one of the main writers of the New Testament books, used this method in the various arguments, including in 2 Corinthians. Hermeneutic studies that focus on the possibility of rhetorical analysis and how this method is applied in interpreting 2 Corinthians 6:11-7:1 are the main focus of this paper. This study found a persuasive style and rhetorical argumentative discourse in Paul's writing from the various data collected and Paul's analyzed and interpreted arguments. The structure and technique of Paul's argumentative approach and his advice to the Corinthian church is a combination of rhetorical elements and the uniqueness of Paul's writing style. The lifestyle of the Corinthian church that emerged as a result of the church's attitude of openly accepting unbelievers and their improper lifestyle caused the church to be polarized in groups and experienced spiritual decadence.
