Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the One Day One Word Program on improving the English vocabulary of early childhood children aged 4–5 years at RA Al-Falah Jenggawah. The study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design through the One Group Pretest–Posttest Design model. The research subjects were 30 children in group A aged 4–5 years who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique was carried out through structured observation using an observation sheet for children's English vocabulary mastery. The One Day One Word Program was implemented by introducing one English understanding every day through multiple activities, educational games, visual media, and simple songs. Data analysis used descriptive statistics, normality tests, homogeneity tests, and paired sample t-tests. The results showed an increase in children's English vocabulary skills after the implementation of the One Day One Word Program. The average posttest score was higher than the pretest and the results of the Paired Sample t-test showed a significance value less than 0.05. Thus, the One Day One Word Program had a significant effect on improving the English vocabulary of early childhood children aged 4–5 years at RA Al-Falah Jenggawah. This program can be an alternative to a simple, interesting, and effective English learning strategy in early childhood education.
