Abstract

The Balinese song Ida Sang Sujati  (2016) performed by Bali Kumara singers was inspired by a moment when its composer I Komang Darmayuda was appointed as a music judge at Pesta Kesenian Bali (PKB) which located at Ardha Candra Open Stage. He was stunned by the idea of ??the parade and the venue for the event which was being made for the governor of Bali  Prof. Ida Bagus Mantra who served in 1978-1988. The problems of this research are (1) the musical form of the Balinese song Ida Sang Sujati by I Komang Darmayuda, (2) the process of making the Balinese song Ida Sang Sujati  by I Komang Darmayuda, (3) the musical meaning contained in the Balinese song Ida Sang Sujati  by I Komang Darmayuda. The method that being used for this research is qualitative, with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, documentation. The theory used to explore the problem is the theory of song form and structure analysis and the theory of meaning. Primary data sources were obtained from interviews and observations. Secondary data were obtained from books, journals, and internet sources

Abstract

Voice of Bali adalah komunitas paduan suara yang mengelola interaksi antara modal budaya, sosial, ekonomi, dan simbolik dengan struktur ranah seni paduan suara untuk menciptakan praktik sosial yang mendukung keberlanjutan, inovasi, dan penguatan posisi komunitas dalam arena seni, meskipun menghadapi keterbatasan modal ekonomi dan tantangan adaptasi ditengah dinamika global. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana komunitas paduan suara Voice of Bali mengelola interaksi antar struktur modal, habitus, arena, praproduksi dan pasca produksi serta manajemen event untuk menjadi contoh bagi kelompok lain dalam mengembangkan paduan suara di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, metode pengumpulan data dengan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi dengan mengkontekstualisasikan teori Pierre Bourdieu untuk menganalisis bagaimana interaksi antara habitus, modal, serta arena yang menghasilkan praktik sosial untuk mendukung keberlanjutan, invovasi, dan penguatan posisi komunitas dalam ekosistem seni paduan suara.  Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Voice of Bali tidak hanya aktif dalam kompetisi nasional maupun internasional, namun juga aktif dalam kegiatan event dan aktif menjadi ruang eksplorasi bagi anggotanya untuk memberikan kontribusi signifikan dalam mengembangkan ekosistem paduan suara di Indonesia. Simpulan penelitian ini mengaskan pentingnya membangun profil yang kuat untuk menjadi kelompok seni yang kompeten dan inovatif, dengan reputasi nasional dan internasional. Melalui ekosistemnya Voice of Bali menggabungkan seni, budaya, dan jejaring sosial melalui kolaboratif kreatif, pengelolaan sumber daya yang strategis, serta dedikasi pada kualitas artistik. Penelitian ini tidak hanya berkontribusi pada kajian akademik tentang paduan suara, tetapi juga memberikan panduan praktis bagi komunitas seni dalam mengelola modal dan menghadapi tantangan industri seni di era global.The Dynamics of the Choral Art Ecosystem: A Bourdieusian Analysis of Voice of BaliAbstractVoice of Bali is a choral community that manages the interaction between cultural, social, economic, and symbolic capital with the structure of the choral art domain to create social practices that support sustainability, innovation, and strengthening the community's position in the art arena, despite facing limited economic capital and adaptation challenges amid global dynamics. This research aims to explain how the Voice of Bali choir community manages interactions between capital structures, habitus, arena, pre-production and post-production, and event management to become an example for other groups developing choirs in Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative approach, data collection methods with observation, interviews and documentation by contextualizing Pierre Bourdieu's theory to analyze how the interaction between habitus, capital, and arena produces social practices to support sustainability, innovation, and strengthening the community's position in the choral art ecosystem. The research results show that Voice of Bali is active in national and international competitions and event activities and as an exploration space for its members to significantly contribute to developing the choral ecosystem in Indonesia. The conclusion of this research emphasizes the importance of building a strong profile to become a competent and innovative arts group with a national and international reputation. Through its ecosystem, Voice of Bali combines art, culture and social networking through creative collaboration, strategic resource management and dedication to artistic quality. This research not only contributes to the academic study of choirs but also provides practical guidance for the arts community in managing capital and facing the challenges of the arts industry in the global era.Keywords: Voice of Bali; Choir; Pierre Bourdieu; Habitus; Cultural Capital
