Abstract

From the analysis conducted on the basic concept of Islamic communication, it can be concluded that Islamic communication is formulated as a process of exchanging messages based on Islamic teachings with the aim of achieving truth, harmony, and the pleasure of Allah. Its principles include honesty (as-sidq), trustworthiness, justice (al-'adalah), wisdom, and moderation (wasatiyyah). These principles guide every aspect of communication to be oriented towards moral and transcendental values, distinguishing it from secular communication which often focuses on pragmatic or materialistic goals. Dakwah communication aims to convey Islamic teachings wisely, wisely, and compassionately, as exemplified by the prophets. Prophetic communication, which emphasizes prophetic qualities such as shiddiq (honest), amanah (trustworthy), tabligh (delivering), and fathanah (intelligent), has high relevance in the modern world. In this context, da'wah and prophetic communication can be applied through social media, education, and interactive dialogue that prioritizes Islamic ethics, so that it is effective in countering disinformation, resolving conflicts, and strengthening harmonious social relations. The main sources of Islamic communication are the Qur'an, Hadith, and other sources such as ijma (consensus of scholars) and qiyas (legal analogy) are the main foundations of Islamic communication. The Qur'an provides moral guidelines and principles of fair and honest communication. Hadith exemplifies the communication practices of the Prophet Muhammad SAW which are full of wisdom and compassion. The relevance of these sources in modern life lies in their ability to be a guide to communication ethics, both in interpersonal relationships and in the use of communication technology.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Law No. 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) in preventing the spread of fake news (hoaxes) during the 2024 Regional Election in North Sumatra. It also seeks to identify the obstacles and solutions faced by local governments in optimizing the role of governance communication. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, using field research methods. Primary data were collected through in-depth interviews. Secondary data were supported by literature sources such as books, journals, and scientific articles. Data analysis utilized a thematic approach to identify key emerging themes. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the ITE Law plays a significant role in countering the spread of hoaxes, which can influence public opinion and the reputation of regional head candidates. The informants emphasized the need for strict law enforcement, public education on digital literacy, and collaboration between the government, media, and society to minimize the impact of hoaxes. The challenges identified include a lack of trained human resources, low public digital awareness, and limited infrastructure in the regions. Proposed solutions include strengthening digital literacy, establishing special task forces to handle hoaxes, and enhancing collaboration between the government, political parties, and the public. This study recommends optimizing the implementation of the ITE Law through preventive, collaborative, and fair approaches to create a healthy democratic environment during the 2024 Regional Election.

Abstract

This study examines Restorasi Indonesia as a political vision articulated through the political communication strategy of Surya Paloh in the digital era, in response to the increasing mediatization of political discourse within Indonesia’s contemporary democratic landscape. The research addresses how the vision of national restoration is constructed, disseminated, and transformed through digital political communication practices to influence public perception and political engagement. Employing a qualitative approach, this study utilizes discourse analysis to investigate Surya Paloh’s communication strategies across digital platforms, including speeches, social media narratives, and mediated political messaging. The findings indicate that the articulation of Restorasi Indonesia operates not merely as an ideological construct but as a communicative framework that adapts to the dynamics of digital media through symbolic narratives, strategic framing, and audience-oriented messaging. This transformation reflects a shift from conventional political mobilization toward digitally mediated persuasion, enabling the political vision to maintain relevance in a rapidly evolving information ecosystem. The study argues that the effectiveness of Restorasi Indonesia as a political vision is closely linked to its communicative adaptability, where strategic digital engagement becomes central to shaping political legitimacy and sustaining ideological resonance in the public sphere.

Abstract

This study examines the political communication strategy of the NasDem Party in North Sumatra during the 2024 General Election, focusing on how the Indonesian Restoration Movement (Gerakan Restorasi Indonesia) functioned as a central narrative in shaping voter perception, party identity, and electoral outcomes. Employing a qualitative research approach, the study collected data through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis. The analytical framework is grounded in Stuart Hall’s Encoding–Decoding theory, enabling an exploration of how political messages were constructed and interpreted within the socio-cultural context of North Sumatra. The findings indicate that NasDem’s communication strategy was institutionalized and implemented through four integrated components: (1) the use of simple and contextually grounded political language, (2) consistent deployment of symbolic political identity, (3) hybrid integration of grassroots mobilization and digital media, and (4) sustained two-way communication with the public. This strategy effectively reduced the cognitive distance between political ideology and everyday life, fostered emotional proximity between the party and voters, and strengthened long-term voter loyalty. The party’s stable electoral growth from 2014 to 2024 confirms that sustainable reminder of political success is driven not by campaign intensity alone, but by the continuous institutionalization of culturally resonant, emotionally engaging, and participatory communication practices. This study contributes to political communication scholarship by extending the application of the Encoding–Decoding model to regional Indonesian politics and demonstrating the importance of long-term communication institutionalization in sustaining electoral support and democratic engagement.
