Abstract

Most of the coconut plantations in Indonesia are dry land, so it is very dependent on rain to meet the water needs of the coconut plants. Changes in rainfall and rainy days affect coconut production. This research was conducted to determine the effect of rainy days and rainfall and its correlation to the production of three varieties of Coconut Tall. The research was conducted at the Mapanget Experimental Garden, IPCRI from January 2019 to April 2019, using data on Coconut Tall Mapanget  Inner Coconut production, rainy day data (days) and rainfall (mm) for the period 2014 - 2020 The analytical method used is multiple linear regression and correlation analysis. The results of multiple regression analysis showed that rainy days and rainfall variables had no significant effect at the 5% test level on the increase in the number of bunches/trees/year, the number of fruits/bunch, and the number of fruits/tree/year in the variety Coconut Tall Mapanget. The results of the regression analysis showed that rainfall and rainy days had no significant effect on the coconut production variables, namely the number of bunches/tree/year, number of fruit/bunch, number of fruit/tree/bunch in KP. Mapanget on plants with a spacing of 9 x 9 m, 5 x 16 m, 5 x 3 x 16 m and 5 x 12 m. The various spacing treatments did not have a significant or significant effect on the coconut production component in coconut tall Mapanget (DMT) but in general, the 9 x 9 m spacing was relatively better than the other spacing treatments.

Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).At this time the government is intensifying coconut planting to be developed in the community, so good quality seeds are needed. To get quality seeds, it is necessary to pay attention to handling the provision of good and correct seeds, so that good quality seeds are obtained that have the criteria uniform germination speed and high germination rate. Availability of water is an absolute thing in the provision of seeds. At the beginning of nursery, farmers paid less attention to watering the seeds, they think that the seeds in the nursery do not need a lot of water. Water plays an important role in plant growth however it is necessary to know whether water also plays a role in the initial growth of coconut seeds in the nursery. This study aimed to determine the role of water for coconut seeds in the early growth in the nursery. The research was carried out at the Balitpalma Experimental Garden, Mapanget, North Sulawesi. Held in August 2019 – October 2019. The study used two treatments consisting of: a) watered coconut seeds and b) unwatered coconut seeds, each treatment contained 75 plants so that 150 coconut seeds were used, then the independent t-test was conducted. The watering treatment showed no significant difference in the speed of germination. The germination rate showed a significant difference, a high value was obtained in the watering treatment. The watering treatment showed that the results were not significantly different from the speed of germination, but significantly different to the germination rate.

(pp. 383–388).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Coconut is a plant often used by people as a source of life. Coconut is an important contributor to food security at the agricultural level and has high added value at the industrial level. The health of the plants influences the growth and high production of coconut plants in the field during the nursery period. Farmers know three systems or techniques for breeding systems. Each breeding system has advantages and disadvantages, but it is unknown which produces the best plant growth in the main nursery. This research aimed to determine the breeding system that makes the best coconut plant growth in the nursery. The research at the Mapanget Temptation Garden, Palm Plant Research Institute, was conducted for 7 months, from July 2021 to January 2022. The research was conducted using a completely randomized design with 3 treatments and 3 replications. So that 9 experimental units were obtained, and each experimental unit consisted of 8 plants, so 72 plants were needed. breeding using polybags, in land with close planting distance, and in land with sparse planting distance (spaced). The variables observed were plant height and stem diameter. Based on the research results on plant height parameters, significantly different results were obtained. It can be seen that the nursery system rarely shows higher values compared to other treatments 2 to 6 months after treatment (mat). In contrast, the stem diameter parameter shows results that are not significantly different in all treatments.
