Abstract

Unintended pregnancy has been a significant global health issue. This study aimed to develop an application for learning how to use combined hormonal contraceptive pills and examine the application’s quality and learning satisfaction. The application was developed in four stages: 1) reviewing the evidence-based practice, 2) designing the structure, 3) developing the application, and 4) checking the application’s accuracy. The quality of the application was tested through questionnaires. A convenience sampling of 40 women aged 20-40 years were selected. The respondents were women who used combined hormonal contraceptive pills and had no previous experience using them in the urban community of Phitsanulok, Thailand, between January and April 2022. Descriptive statistics were used. Consultants and experts checked the research findings and revealed that the application was accurate. The computer and information technology quality of the application for learning based on the Android operating system was high (X̅= 4.00, S.D. = 0.31). The content quality of the application and the satisfaction were also at a high level (X̅= 4.10, S.D. = 0.36; X̅= 4.33, S.D. = 0.52). The findings demonstrated that developing an application for learning how to use combined hormonal contraceptive pills can enhance the effectiveness of contraceptive knowledge and use.

Abstract

Introduction: Thailand has not had a comprehensive effort to collaborate on a wellness tourism regional program for foreign travelers. The purpose of the study was exploring the key components necessary for a wellness tourism program in the lower northern region in Thailand. Methods: This is a qualitative, community-based, participatory action research guided by the empowerment theory. A descriptive qualitative approach to data collection and analysis was used to explore stakeholders' perspectives on the development of a wellness tourism program. A total of 40 key stakeholders from nine provinces in the lower north region of Thailand participated in two phases of the study's data collection. Individual and focus groups interviews were conducted and analyzed thematically. The purposive sample included semi-structured questionnaires among community leaders, village health volunteers, and workers from various occupations who lived in the communities. Results:  Four themes emerged from the qualitative interviews and focus groups: 1) honoring local wisdom as the heart of a regional wellness tourism program; 2)  the integration of historical traditions and regional lifestyles into a wellness tourism program; 3) the need for government supportive policies that help to fund community wellness initiatives to boost the local economy and tourism ;and 4) attention needed to improve the quality of life for the local communities while promoting wellness tourism in the region. Conclusion: This community-based participatory action research approach created a synergy among stakeholders from multiple provinces in the lower north region of Thailand.

Abstract

Introduction: Nursing diagnoses are essential in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) for guiding decisions, prioritizing care, and improving outcomes. However, inconsistent terminology and documentation burdens hinder their effective implementation and evaluation. The aimed of this study was to examine the application of nursing diagnoses in ICUs, exploring their relationships with clinical indicators, patient outcomes, and the impact of standardized diagnostic frameworks on nursing practice. Methods: This scoping review followed PRISMA-ScR guidelines We searched PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, and Web of Science from 2019 to 2024. Studies examining nursing diagnoses in ICU settings were included. The reviewers independently screened 527 records, with nineteen full-text articles assessed for eligibility, resulting in thirteen included studies. Results: Thirteen studies with diverse methodologies from multiple countries were analyzed. Four key themes emerged: 1) Clinical indicators linked to specific nursing diagnoses, particularly respiratory conditions where impaired spontaneous ventilation was associated with dyspnea, fever, fatigue, and cough; 2) Implementation processes for nursing diagnoses, including electronic health records and nurse-delivered thoracic ultrasound that enhanced clinical decision-making; 3) Diagnostic validation and prevalence studies highlighting the importance of standardized frameworks for accurate diagnosis; and 4) Interventions that improved nursing practice and patient outcomes, including the institutionalization of nursing processes and development of electronic care plans. Conclusion: Standardized nursing diagnoses optimize ICU patient care by providing a structured approach to assessment, intervention planning, and outcome evaluation. Technology integration and consistent terminology enhance diagnostic accuracy and intervention effectiveness. Future research should focus on validating these frameworks across diverse ICU settings and patient populations to establish best practices for implementation.
