Abstract

A lot of information has been conveyed by the people around the Gunung Celering Nature Reserve regarding encounters with the Javan Langurs (Trachypithecus auratus auratus). Research on the Javan langurs (Trachypithecus auratus auratus) in the Gunung Celering Nature Reserve which is located at Donorojo District, Jepara Regency was carried out on 14-31 August 2023. This research aims to determine the population of the Javan Langur, its population distribution at the Gunung Celering Nature Reserve and to find out the the  type of habitat where it is located the javan langur was encountered.During the observations, 109 individuals of Javan Langur were encountered from 12 groups at 8 different observation locations. Of the 109 individuals, it showed that 39% of them were adult Javan Langurs, 43% were juveniles and 17% were children with a population density of 0.08 individuals/ha and a sex ratio of 1:1.5. The Javan Langur habitat at Gunung Celering nature Reserve consists of 35 tree species at the observation area and 21 of which have potential as javan Langur food.

Abstract

A survey has been conducted to identify the conflict of the Javan Leopard (Phanthera pardus melas – P.p. melas) and its mitigation local wisdom in Tempur village, Keling District, Jepara Regency. The survey was conducted from July to October 2021. The survey was conducted through in-depth interviews with 15 selected respondents and questionnaires to 61 respondents at random in 6 hamlets in Tempur Village. The results of the interviews showed that there had been 17 times the P.p. conflict. melas that befell 2 hamlets from February to July 2021. The results of the questionnaire show that the Tempur Village community has always had a way of avoiding conflict with P.p. weld that is by means of; choosing the right time to go to the garden, not going to the garden/forest alone, doing good to others and the environment, obeying local community norms, always sharing when there is fortune and not disturbing the habitat of P.p. weld. In addition, the respondents also considered that P.p. Melas entering his village is not just a wildlife conflict, but also indirectly shows the victim's social behavior.

Abstract

A wildlife monitoring survey was conducted in the Gunung Celering Nature Reserve (GCNR) located in Jepara Regency Central Java during September to November 2023 using camera traps. The survey was conducted to identify wildlife, determine the activity patterns of the wildlife in question and identify the types of wildlife protected in GCNR. The survey results showed that 868 videos were obtained with details of 173 wildlife video captures, 14 videos of human activities and 711 non-object videos. The 173 wildlife videos consisted of 14 types of wildlife consisting of 7 Aves (6 Orders, 6 Families), 5 Mammals (5 orders, 5 families), 1 Reptil and 1 Amphibian. Of the 173 wildlife videos, 7 videos were obtained from 4 species that were active at night. The remaining 166 videos were successfully documented during the day. The animals documented at night were Frogs, Civets, Jungle Cats and Rats. Of the 14 of wild animals found, there are 3 protected species based on Permenlhk 106/2018, 2 types of animals with En (endangered) status and 1 type of animal with Vul (Vulnerable) status based on IUCN as well as 3 types of animals with Appendix II category and 1 type of animal included in Appendix I CITES category.
