Abstract

Biomass-based activated carbon has potential as an electrode material in energy storage systems because it is renewable and environmentally friendly, but its performance is still dominated by the Electric Double Layer Capacitance (EDLC) mechanism. This study aims to examine the effect of surface modification of rice husk activated carbon using HNO3 on the specific capacitance of carbon paste electrodes in various types of electrolytes. Activated carbon was synthesized through the stages of carbonization, silica extraction, chemical activation using H3PO4, and surface modification using HNO3. Material characterization was carried out using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Surface Area and Porosity with the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) method, Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR), and Boehm titration. The electrochemical performance of the electrode was evaluated using the cyclic voltammetry method with HCl, KOH, and KCl electrolytes at a concentration of 0.5 M. FTIR and Boehm titration results showed an increase in the number of oxygen groups on the surface of activated carbon after modification. Electrochemical testing showed that the type of electrolyte affected the specific capacitance value, with KOH electrolyte producing the highest specific capacitance of 31.5094 mF/g on the modified activated carbon electrode (KAEM). This increase in capacitance was attributed to the contribution of the pseudocapacitance mechanism due to the interaction of oxygen functional groups on the surface of activated carbon with OH- ions, while in HCl and KCl electrolytes the charge storage mechanism was dominated by electric double layer capacitance.

Abstract

Early Childhood Education (ECE) is a crucial foundation in preparing Indonesia’s Golden Generation 2045. However, limited learning media remains a challenge, including for Ananda Toys MSME in Karangtanjung Village, Sidoarjo, which produces Educational Play Tools (EPT). The main problems include the absence of business legality, limited product innovation, simple marketing practices, and weak financial record-keeping. This community service program aims to empower MSMEs through assistance in obtaining business legality, training in innovative EPT production based on the Flour Press Cutter, strengthening product branding and digital marketing, and training in simple financial recording. The program was implemented using a participatory approach through socialization, training, mentoring, and evaluation, involving 40 participants consisting of business actors, youth organizations (Karang Taruna), PKK members, and PAUD/elementary school teachers. The results show an increase in MSME competitiveness through the acquisition of business legality, product innovation, expanded digital marketing, and more systematic financial management, while also supporting improvements in the quality of early childhood education and community welfare.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the improvement in science literacy skills of fifth-grade elementary school students through the application of Interactive Digital Storybooks based on Augmented Reality (AR) through deep learning. This research is based on the background of low literacy skills among students, which are influenced by conventional learning methods that lack context and are not yet optimal. The research method used is descriptive quantitative through a one group pretest-posttest design, namely one group of students is given a pretest, then given treatment in the form of the application of interactive digital storybook media based on AR through a deep learning approach, and then given a posttest. The subjects of this study were fifth grade students of SD. Data collection techniques were carried out through science literacy skill tests and questionnaires on student responses to the application of learning media. Data analysis was carried out based on quantitative descriptive by comparing the results of the pretest with the posttest and calculating the percentage increase in science literacy skills. The results of the study proved that there was an increase in students' science literacy skills after the application of the learning media, as evidenced by the posttest scores being higher than the pretest scores. In addition, the students' responses to the use of the media were in the very good category. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the media.
