Abstract

Minangkabau is one of the cultures or ethnic groups in Indonesia that remains a popular subject for research from both cultural and religious perspectives. This is understandable given that the traditions within Minangkabau culture offer intriguing aspects for scholars to analyse. For instance, the matriarchal system in Minangkabau presents a paradox between the matrilineal perspective in culture and the patrilineal perspective in religion, showcasing the Minangkabau community's efforts to accommodate and reconcile cultural and religious approaches. This paper aims to explore the social relations within the Minangkabau community from Hamka's perspective as presented in Tafsir Al-Azhar. This study falls into the category of literary research with a qualitative approach. The data sources for this research are drawn from various library references, including the Tafsir Al-Azhar as the primary source and other related books as secondary sources. The data analysis method employed is content analysis. This research indicates that Hamka has a unique reading of social relations in Minangkabau, highlighting the distinctive influence of matriarchal/matrilineal practices on the social order of Minangkabau society. The explanation of social relations in Minangkabau exists in his tafsir as a tool to provide analogies or explanations of the meaning of verses, making them easier for readers to understand, considering that Tafsir predominantly has a social orientation.

Abstract

Muhammad Syahrur is one of the figures who is concerned in the issue of female Aurat.  Although his presence is very controversial, but he still tries to formulate his own concept.  According to him, Allah SWT has set the period of Aurat concept since the time of the Prophet Adam and Eve.  In fact, for him the measurement of Aurat is ashame and has nothing to do with halal and haram.  Through the Theory of boundary, Syahrur sets minimum and maximum limits to deconstruct the concept of females’ Aurat.  However, this method is considered wrong because it is to eliminate the sacredity of religious texts and contradict with the opinions among majority of scholars.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital financial technology (Fintech) in Indonesia has created significant opportunities to expand financial inclusion. However, it also presents challenges in ensuring that these services align with Sharia principles. The persistent challenges faced by Sharia Fintech in Indonesia, which may hinder the smooth operation of Sharia-compliant financial services, constitute one of the urgencies of this research. Sharia Fintech, as an alternative solution, requires a more structured implementation of financial principles based on the Qur’an to provide optimal benefits while adhering to Islamic values. This study aims to analyze how the application of financial principles based on the Qur’an can optimize Sharia Fintech in Indonesia. This research is categorized as a literature study with a qualitative approach. The data analysis method applied is content analysis. The findings of this study emphasize that the Qur'an serves as the primary foundation in establishing an Islamic financial system that prioritizes transparency, accountability, and security in financial transactions. These Qur'anic principles of finance can be optimized in the practice of Islamic fintech, serving as a means to strengthen public trust. Although Islamic fintech faces several challenges, the implementation of Qur'an-based strategies can be the key to fostering the optimal development of Islamic fintech in Indonesia.

Abstract

The reality that develops in society shows that the role of women is often still viewed marginally, both in the social and spiritual domains. Women are frequently reduced to merely biological aspects and domestic roles, without considering their spiritual depth within the Islamic tradition. This study aims to offer a broader and more holistic perspective on women by positioning them as part of the manifestation of Divine beauty, possessing the potential to achieve spiritual perfection. Through the works of Muhammad Nur Jabir, this research seeks to explore how women in Sufism are not only understood as passive objects but also as active subjects in the journey toward God. This research is categorized as a literature study with a qualitative approach. The data analysis method applied is content analysis. The findings of this study indicate that, first, women are seen as the dominant reflection of God’s jamaliyah (beauty) attributes, while men reflect jalaliyah (majesty) attributes; however, these two dimensions complement each other to create spiritual balance. Second, in their essence of creation, women and men are considered spiritually equal as they originate from the same soul, whereas differences in Islamic law are more related to physical aspects. Third, women have the same potential as men to reach the highest spiritual levels, such as the maqam of sainthood (insan kamil) and the maqam of caliphate (khalifah).
