Abstract

The tahlilan tradition in Sindangjaya Village is a religious practice rich in Islamic values, functioning as a medium for socialization and actualizing religious values. Not only does it function as a religious ritual to pray for people who have died, but also as an effective da'wah medium to spread Islam. This research aims to explore the role of tahlilan in cultivating religious values among the Nahdliyin community. Through interviews with religious leaders and local communities, it was found that tahlilan functions as a ritual to pray for people who have died and as a means to convey religious messages that include aspects of aqidah, worship, and morals. The process of socializing religious values in tahlilan involves two crucial aspects: the application of religious values in spiritual and social aspects. Tahlilan is a forum to strengthen people's relations with Allah (hablum minallah) and with fellow humans (hablum minannas). In addition, this tradition also serves as a tool to strengthen social solidarity and maintain good relations between citizens. The results of the study show that tahlilan has a significant impact on shaping the character and attitude of the community, as well as in internalizing religious values that are inherited from generation to generation. Thus, tahlilan is not only a religious ritual, but also an integral part of the cultural identity of the Nahdliyin people that needs to be preserved and developed.

Abstract

The study aims to investigate the impact of livestock farming on community empowerment, focusing on the integration of economic, social, and environmental dimensions. The research encompasses a case study of a sheep farming empowerment program in Karanglayung, Indramayu, West Java, which serves as a model for similar initiatives in rural areas. The methodology includes a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with local farmers, community leaders, and stakeholders involved in the program. Data collection involved assessing income levels, food security, animal health, and social cohesion within the community. The findings reveal that the program has significantly increased farmers' income by an average of 30%, improved access to nutritious food, and enhanced animal health through targeted education and training. Additionally, the program has fostered social cohesion, with participants reporting stronger community ties and collaboration. The main conclusion drawn from the study is that a holistic approach to livestock farming can effectively empower local communities, providing economic benefits while promoting sustainable practices and social unity. This model demonstrates the potential for replication in other regions facing similar challenges. Abstract

This paper explores the dynamics of transnational da'wah and community empowerment through the case of Pesantren An-Nahdloh in Malaysia, a pesantren established by Indonesian Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) migrants. The central question concerns how a pesantren initiated and funded by migrant workers can function as a medium of da'wah and social empowerment beyond national borders. Positioned within the discourse of transnational Islamic movements and grassroots religious communication, this study adopts a qualitative-descriptive method using document analysis and contextual observation. The discussion reveals that the pesantren operates not only as an Islamic educational institution but also as a center for da'wah bil hal addressing social, moral, and educational needs of Indonesian migrant communities. This model demonstrates how da'wah institutions initiated by civil society actors can facilitate cultural resilience, religious moderation, and local empowerment in diaspora settings.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of Islamic social and cultural values on technology adoption within Muslim communities, focusing on the challenges and opportunities arising from the misalignment between technological advancements and local cultural values. Technology adoption in Muslim societies is often influenced not only by infrastructure readiness but also by societal perceptions of technology that may conflict with long-standing religious doctrines and cultural traditions. This study identifies three main factors affecting technology acceptance: infrastructure readiness, social disparities, and the cultural characteristics of Islam. The research demonstrates that successful technology adoption requires social engineering that enables integration with the existing moral and social values in Muslim communities. Using a qualitative approach, the study explores how Muslims adapt technology without compromising their religious and cultural principles. Findings indicate that effective technology adoption necessitates policies accommodating local social and cultural values and the involvement of religious leaders in introducing appropriate technology. This research significantly contributes to enriching the study of technology adoption by considering cultural and religious dimensions and opens opportunities for further research in this field. The study’s limitation lies in its geographically limited scope, suggesting the need for broader, more in-depth research involving Muslim communities in various regions.
