Abstract

Abstrak Bahasa Wemale dipakai sebagai bahasa pertama oleh penutur asli masyarakat Suku Wemale di Pulau Seram, Maluku, tepatnya di  Negeri Hunitetu, Kecamatan Kairatu, Kabupaten Seram Bagian Barat. Bahasa Wemale memilki dua dialek yaitu dialek Wemale Utara dan Wemale Selatan.Hingga saaat ini, bahasa Wemale masih digunakan sebagai alat komunikasi secara lisan oleh kalangan tertentu dalam kehidupan masyarakat penuturnya. Meskipun demikian, bahasa Wemale dapat dikategorikan sebagai bahasa daerah yang hampir punah, karena tidak ada proses pewarisan kepada generasi mudanya.  Untuk mencegah hal tersebut, perlu dilakukan berbagai upaya penyelamatan yang salah satu diantaranya melalui penelitian.Penelitian ini memberikan gambaran tentang pola suku kata bahasa Wemale. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendiskripsikan pola suku kata bahasa Wemale, dialek Wemale Selatan. Meode yang digunakan adalah meode kualitatif deskriptif. Data diperoleh dari ucapan langsung penutur asli bahasa tersebut dan penutur yang dianggap mampu. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pola suku kata bahasaWemale terdiri atas V, KV, VKV,  KVV, dan ½ KV. Kata kunci: suku kata, pola suku kata, bahasa Wemale Abstract Wemale is used as the first language by native speakers of the Wemale tribe on Seram Island, Maluku, precisely in the village of Hunitetu, Kairatu District, West Seram Regency. Wemale has two dialects namely North Wemale and South Wemale. Until now, Wemale is still used as an oral communication tool by certain groups in the life of the speaker community. However, Wemale language can be categorized as a regional language that is almost extinct, because there is no inheritance process to the younger generation. To prevent this, various rescue efforts need to be done, one of which is through research. This research provides an overview of the Wemale syllable patterns. This study aims to describe the syllabic patterns of the Wemale language, South Wemale dialect. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. Data obtained from the direct speech of native speakers of the language and speakers who are considered capable. The results of the analysis show that the syllabic syllable patterns consist of V, KV, VKV, KVV,and ½ KV. Keywords: syllables, syllable patterns, Wemale language

Abstract

Conducting a research focusing on local language is one effort in conserving nation’s cultural values. The so-called Mooi Language is one of the Papuan’s local languages spoken in the district of West Sentani, Jayapura Regency, Papua. It is specifically used by the people living in the village of Maribu, Waibron, Kendate, and Sabron Dosay. The Mooi speakers are counted around 1,200 people. Mooi Language is included into the family of non-Austronesian languages with its order of sentence structure is subject-object-predicator (SOP). This research is conducted with qualitative approach using descriptive method. The aim of this study is to describe form and type of postpositional phrase found in the language of Mooi. The research is organized into three strategic stages. They are collecting, analyzing and serving the result of data analysis. The stage of collecting data in this research is carried out with conversational method between the researcher and Mooi Language speakers, in this case, who act as informants. Instruments used in this research are list of postpositional phrases and list of sentences containing form and type of postposional phrase. Based on the analysis, types of postpostional phrase in Mooi Language are categorized into (1) postpositional phrase signaling functional relation, (2) postpositional phrase signaling relation of origin and direction of place, (3) postpositional phrase signaling relation of partitipation, manner or equipment, (4) postpositional phrase signaling relation of place, (5) postpositional phrase signaling relation of direction to certain place, (6) postpositional phrase signaling relation of likeliness, and (7) postpositional phrase signaling relation of target/goal.

Abstract

Skow language is one of local language in Papua Province which relatively has less speaker. This language is spoken by people who live in village of Skou Mabo, Skou Yambe, and Skou Sae. Skou language is used in border territory of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. This writing discused about Skou language that based on morphosyntac reviewed. The aim of this reseach is to describe verb morphosyntac of Skou language. This writing uses descriptive method with three stages, namely, collecting data stage, analyzing data stage, and presenting the result of analysis data stage. The data, in this writing, was collected by using interview method (metode cakap) through stimulation technique (teknik pancing) as a basic technique while face-to-face interview (cakap semuka) and noting technique (teknik catat) as advanced techniques. The basic data of this reseach are the data of interview result which used instrument, while the supported data are taken from works of Donohue. Then, data analyzing used translational subtype of  equivalent method (metode padan). The result shows that verb morphosyntax Skou language is a kind of language whith extremely rigid verbal agreement. Verbal agreement in Skou language consists of 1) personae, 2) number, and 3) gender. Pattern of active-transitive sentence in Skow language is SOV, while its intransitive  sentences of Skou language pattern is S(S)V with OSV and (S)OSV variants. Skou language is an ergative language.
