Abstract

Weather and climate are the main factors for influence on various activities of life. The increasing of human activity has made the change in components biophisical environment, which are major contributors about climate change. The most important of the process of climate change is the emergence of the extreme, that one example is, extreme rainfall, that the rainfall have more than 50 mm intensity / day. To know characteristic of climate change occurring, needed a model who represented data rainfall in various meteorology station. Based on it, author make a modeling the extreme rainfall in Palu city using Java programming. The results of the extreme rainfall predictions 10 years using software models and Java programming, in Palu city with using fourier series function order 5 predicted the extreme rainfall will likely increase every year with the highest event are  2 times / years. The prediction was featuring the precisely  value with the real data. So, we can conclude that the extreme rainfall model tends to be accurate and can be used to predict the extreme rainfall in Palu city and in other cities.

Abstract

Heavy metal pollution in aquatic environments is one of the serious problems that threaten the health of ecosystems and humans. Various methods have been developed to overcome this pollution, one of which is using natural materials such as chitosan. This study aims to explore the potential of chitosan produced from squid (Loligo sp.) internal shells as heavy metal adsorbents in filtration systems. Chitosan is a biopolymer known to have a high ability to bind metal ions through its amino and hydroxyl groups. In this study, chitosan was synthesized through several processes, namely Deproteination, mineralization and deacetylation of chitin extracted from squid internal shells. The resulting chitosan was characterized using infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) to identify groups formed from the chitin deacetylation process. The results showed that chitosan based on squid internal shells has an adsorption capacity that meets the standard water content of 2%, ash content of 1% and Deacetyl Degree (DD) of 82.8%. Based on the characterization of functional groups using FTIR, the hydroxyl group -OH and the amine group (-NH2) play a significant role in the heavy metal adsorption process. Because these groups are able to form complex bonds with heavy metal ions. Application in the absorption of Pb metal in water samples of the Tallo River in South Sulawesi, obtained an adsorption effectiveness of 96.4%. Overall, chitosan from squid internal shells has the potential as a heavy metal adsorbent in water filtration applications. This study opens up new opportunities in the development of natural materials for sustainable water treatment technology.

Abstract

Salah satu perkembangan teknologi elektronika ditandai dengan penggunaan mikrokontroller di berbagai bidang kehidupan manusia, termasuk dalam budidaya tanaman anggrek. Dalam perawatan tanaman anggrek, selain pemupukan, juga dibutuhkan penyiraman yang efektif untuk membantu proses pertumbuhannya, dimana hal ini merupakan suatu pekerjaan yang monoton dan dilakukan dengan cara manual pada jam-jam tertentu. Penelitian ini telah berhasil merancang sebuah sistem penyiraman tanaman anggrek berbasis Arduino Uno, yang dapat menjaga suhu dan kelembaban di sekitar tanaman anggrek tetap pada kondisi yang dibutuhkan untuk tumbuh kembangnya. Adapun alat akan melakukan penyiraman secara otomatis pada pukul 09:00 wita dan akan kembali melakukan penyiraman bila kelembaban udara yang dideteksi oleh sensor DHT22 kurang dari 70%. Selain itu, jika nilai suhu udara yang dideteksi sensor DHT22 lebih tinggi dari 30°C maka motor fan akan aktif untuk medinginkan suhu disekitar tanaman anggrek.
