Abstract

Mengingat pentingnya pembelajaran sastra terutama pemahaman terhadap nilai-nilai kehidupan yang bermanfaat bagi perkembangan pendidikan karakter siswa, pendidikan karakter di sekolah perlu dikembangkan. Kaitan dengan hal tersebut, pembelajaran novel tentang nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter seringkali menjadi fenomena yang sukar bagi pembelajar. Artikel ini akan mengungkap, (1) nilai pendidikan novel Gadis Pantai karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer dan; (2) mengungkap kemungkinan menjadikannya sebagai bahan pembelajaran sastra di SMA.  Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu penelitian deskriptif dengan teknik analisis isi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan karakter yang terkandung dalam novel Gadis Pantai karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer adalah religius, jujur, toleransi, kerja keras, kreatif, mandiri, demokratis, rasa ingin tahu, semangat, cinta tanah air, bersahabat, cinta damai, gemar membaca, peduli lingkungan, peduli sosial, dan tanggungjawab. Dengan demikian,  novel Gadis Pantai cocok untuk dijadikan bahan ajar pendidikan karater, karena hampir keseluruhan nilai karakter dalam novel tersebut relevan dengan nilai yang ada di dalam kurikulum. Kata kunci: novel, nilai-nilai pendidikan, bahan ajar Given the importance of literary learning, especially understanding of life values that are beneficial to the development of student character education, character education in schools needs to be developed. Related to this, novel learning about the values of character education is often a difficult phenomenon for learners. This article will reveal, (1) the educational value of the Pantai Pantai novel by Pramoedya Ananta Toer and; (2) revealing the possibility of making it as a literary learning material in high school. The method used in this research is descriptive research with content analysis techniques. The results showed that the character education contained in the novel by Pantai Pantai by Pramoedya Ananta Toer was religious, honest, tolerance, hard work, creative, independent, democratic, curiosity, enthusiasm, love of the motherland, friendly, loving peace, fond of reading, care about the environment, care about social, and responsibility. Thus, the Pantai Gadis novel is suitable to be used as teaching material for character education, because almost all of the character values in the novel are relevant to the values in the curriculum.Keywords: novels, educational values, teaching materials
