Abstract

Microgreens are mini vegetable plants with high nutrition that are managed in a controlled growing environment. Management of microgreens requires sufficient water, nutrients, sunlight, planting media and air. The research aims to obtain the nutrient watering materials and media types for sunflower microgreens' growth. This research was carried out in Sumbang Bojonegoro village in October-December 2021. This research was prepared in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 2 factors, namely 2 levels of nutrient watering material, water (P1) and rice-washing water (P2), while 3 levels of planting media: husk charcoal (M1), sand (M2) and cocopeat (M3). The parameters observed were the percentage of germination, germination rate, number of normal and abnormal sprouts, sprout length, cotyledon width, sprout moisture content, sprout wet weight, and sprout dry weight. The observation data was analyzed used analysis of variance (ANOVA), with a further Least Significant Difference (LSD) test is carried out at a test level of 5%. Phytochemical tests for microgreens include chlorophyll, vitamin C and protein levels. The results showed that applying water and rice-washing water were not significantly different in terms of % germination and germination rate, while cocopeat media was more effective in terms of % germination, number of normal sprouts, % water content, wet weight of microgreens, length of sprouts and width of cotyledons. Highest phytochemical content % chlorophyll 23.60 mg/L (water+sand media); % Vitamin C content 59.40 mg/100g (water + husk charcoal media) and % protein content 3.47% (rice-washing water + sand media). Keywords: Planting media, rice-washing water, microgreens, phytochemical, watering

Abstract

Mango (Mangifera indica L.) can be developed through plant propagation by the method of shoot-tip grafting. The problem that often take place is the distance between the mother tree and the location of the connection that is far apart, so it takes a long time and is tough to finish within one day. This research aims to obtain a combination of shelf life and types of scion wrapping materials on the growth of mango seedlings. The research conducted in April - August 2023 at UPT Horticultural Seed Development using Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with 2 factors 3 replications. The first factor is storage time (L) (0 days, 2 days, 4 days, and 6 days) and the second factor is the type of wrapping materials (M) (without packaging, banana frond wrapping, newspaper wrapping, and coconut husk wrapping). Parameters include the time at which shoots appear, the percentage of viable grafting, the length of the shoots and the total number of leaves. The results showed that in general the percentage of success was 70%. The treatment of storage time and type of entres wrapper did not affect the percentage of live grafting, but at a storage time of 2 days, the fastest results were obtained at the time of bud emergence and the longest results in bud length. Keywords: Entry, Length of Storage, Type of Wrapping, Mango Shoot Grafting

Abstract

The decline in domestic productivity of longan (Dimocarpus longan L.) occurred due to increased imports. Efforts to get seedlings quickly without requiring a long time can be done by vegetative propagation of longan (shoot grafting). The purpose of this study was to obtain a combination of soaking time with the right concentration of young coconut water on the growth of shoots. The research was conducted from April to July 2023 at Kebun Mangga Pohjentrek, Pasuruan. This study used a 4x4 factorial pattern arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications.  There are 2 factors studied, the first factor is the duration of immersion of the scion consisting of 4 levels (0, 2, 4, 6 hours). The second factor is the concentration of young coconut water consisting of 4 levels (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%). The parameters observed were bud break, percentage of finished grafts, bud length, bud diameter, and number of leaves. The results showed that there was an interaction between the combination of soaking time of 4 hours with a concentration of 25% on the length of shoots at 28 DAG. Effective growth is obtained at a soaking time of 4 hours and a concentration of 25% young coconut water on the parameters of shoot length and shoot diameter. Keywords : scion, longan, concentrate coconut water, shoot grafting
