Abstract

With the implementation of the curriculum 2013 at primary and secondary education, student at the University of Palangka Raya especially mechanical engineering education Study Program as a candidate teachers are required to improve their knowledge and skills in order to implement the curriculum by using a scientific approach to learning. Step-by-step scientific approach to learning as intended includes observing, questioning, experimenting, associating and communicate. Researchers will discuss the problems is student response to the application of the scientific approach to the subjects Safety and Health at work. In this study, the data analysis performed inductively. Data obtained from observation sheets and questionnaires compiled systematically and then selected which are important and which will be studied and made a conclusion so easily understood by myself and others. The application of scientific approaches in learning the subjects Safety and Health at work greeted positively by the students by referring to high activeness in learning and positive response, (Agree/strongly Agree) are also high for its response to the application of this scientific approach.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of applying the mnemonic method which is linked to long-term memory in the material on limits of trigonometric functions in basic calculus courses in the Palangka Raya University mechanical engineering education study program. The research is action research based on the Kurt Lewin model which consists of several stages including: planning, action, observation and reflection. The research subjects were 44 students taking basic calculus courses. The results of the research show that the mnemonic method is effective for improving long-term memory in Trigonometry function limits material in basic calculus courses in the Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program, Palangka Raya University. This can be seen in the average test result after being given lectures using the mnemonic method, which is 70.5 with classical completeness achieved being 88.6%. Thus, the expected classical completeness of 75% was achieved. Student responses to the use of mnemonic methods in lectures. As many as 95% of students agreed that lectures were fun. The majority of students are actively involved in lectures using this mnemonic method, where as many as 90.9% agree and it is easier for students to remember mathematical formulas in the material on limits of trigonometric functions with this mnemonic method, where as many as 97% agree. The majority of students agree that the mnemonic method needs to be used again in the next lecture material which contains many mathematical formulas, with 90.4% agreeing.

Abstract

In this study, regression analysis was used to examine the relationship between the availability of laboratory facilities and student satisfaction in the Mechanical Engineering Education program at UPR. The basic assumptions of the regression model were met, which included normality of residual distribution, homoscedasticity, and no autocorrelation. The test results showed that there was no heteroscedasticity and autocorrelation in this regression model, and the residual values had a normal distribution. In regression analysis, it is important to evaluate the significance of independent variables on the dependent variable. The test results showed that the predictor variable (availability of laboratory facilities) had a significant effect on the dependent variable (student satisfaction). An increase in laboratory facilities availability would contribute to a 1.162 increase in student satisfaction. The R-Square value of 0.637 or 63.7% indicates that 63.7% of the variation in student satisfaction can be explained by the availability of laboratory facilities, and the remaining is influenced by other variables not included in the model. This shows that the availability of laboratory facilities has a significant effect on student satisfaction. In conclusion, this study shows that the availability of laboratory facilities has a significant positive effect on student satisfaction in the Mechanical Engineering Education program at UPR. These findings can be used as input for the university to improve the availability of laboratory facilities to provide a better learning experience for students.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Teaching Factory (TEFA) model implementation at SMK Negeri 1 Kuala Kurun, specifically in the Business Engineering and Motorcycle (TBSM) program. Using a sequential explanatory design research method, the analysis reveals the complexities involved in implementing TEFA, which encompasses various factors influencing the success and suboptimality of the program. Data collected through questionnaires and interviews reveal a significant gap between the established targets and the achieved outcomes, with the highest gap value found in the variable of TEFA's alignment with student expectations. This indicates an opportunity to improve the alignment between program implementation and student expectations. Additionally, factors such as teacher readiness and infrastructure also play a role, although the gaps in these areas are relatively smaller. The variables related to learning and practice, while contributing the least, remain important as teacher support and opportunities to apply theory significantly influence students. Recommendations from this study include a comprehensive evaluation of the curriculum, improvement of facilities, and better management of time and Quality Control (QC) systems, aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of TEFA. This research emphasizes the need for integration between the curriculum and industry demands to prepare students for the challenges in the workforce
