Abstract

Revitalization is an effort to reproduce the values of an area that was once vital, but due to some reasons, it experienced degradation. This research discusses Pajak Ikan Lama as a revitalization area. There are two parts of scale in revitalization, namely macro level and micro level. Revitalization process in a neighborhood includes improvement of physical, economic, and social aspects. To undergo a revitalization, Pajak Ikan Lama needs improvement as well. The physical aesthetic of the area does not stand as the only solution to address this issue. It needs a series of equipment, with an escalation of the economy for the people as well as a recognition for the cultural value. This research used the qualitative method, also known as an artistic method because the process is emphasized in art, less patterned, and more likely to be interpretative. The collected data from the field is processed using interpretation. The result of this research found that most of the effort needed to revitalize the area lay on physical rearrangement, such as pedestrian, roadblock, welcome gate, street furniture, and street market.

Abstract

The Shophouse is a multi-story building that has multiple functions. The 1st floor is used as a commercial area, and the 2nd floor above is used as a residential place. Revitalization is an effort to revive an urban area through improving the quality of the environment, taking into accounts the socio- cultural aspects and characteristics of the region. The facade is the identity of the building itself by retaining elements and elements on the building façade. This research purposes of finding the dominant appearance of the elements of finding in the shophouse façade in the city of Medan, which is useful for the design revitalizing model of the face of the city as the image of the identity city. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive, with a variable observation phase with the collection of primary and secondary data through direct observation in the field, then analyzed the shop facade elements that have been Grouped and found the most dominant element. The result of the analysis of the dominant facade element found in the shop façade of Medan is China, Malay, and India. The findings of the dominant facade element can be the identity identifier of the region and city of Medan today.

Abstract

As a developing city, Medan carries out a significant role in establishing the identity and image of the city and the development of the surrounding cities and districts. One effort to establish the identity and image of the city can be created through the existence of city gates that can produce a plot, rhythm, and balance for the city bounded. The gate of Medan City has not succeeded in becoming a city gate that meets the needs needed by migrants who pass through the city gate area. This study will address the problems discovered at the Medan City gate in Binjai, Tanjung Morawa, Tembung, and Pancur Batu and relate them to the rejuvenation of the city area through revitalization methods in supporting Metropolitan Mebidangro. The research aims to analyze predetermined variables, namely elements of the city image, namely path, edge, district, nodes, and landmark. For this reason, a qualitative descriptive study was carried out, which was realized through observation and interviews and also documentation studies. The results of the research obtained from this study can be used as a reference and solution to find out the problems that exist int the area around Medan City gate and also give functional supports to develop the area around Medan City.

Abstract

The tourist area of Little Bali T-Garden in Medan is located in Jati Kesuma Village, Kec. Namorambe, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra. Which is one of the natural tourist areas located on the edge of Medan City. The place has an area of ​​± 20 hectares dominated by green open space. This research focuses on knowledge in utilizing existing potential to have a positive impact. The purpose of this research is to revitalize the tourist area to make it more vibrant and useful. This research was conducted using qualitative methods, namely making direct observations in the research area. The phenomenon that occurs in tourist areas has an irregular arrangement and does not fully utilize the land area. The circumstances that occur are things that considered as potentially not being used. Area revitalization uses Place Attachment theory as a basis, outdoor space design theory as a determinant of the needs of tourist areas, and Kevin Lynch's theory will be used to determine what is considered attractive and has the potential to be developed or removed. These results were obtained from the revitalization of the area as an educational and recreational tourism object in Deli Serdang Regency.

Abstract

Today's modern development puts the area of heritage in the classic dilemma in the management area of heritage between conservation and development of modernity. This study aims to examine how the form of demolition that occurs in architecture at the Kesawan District. Using a qualitative descriptive method through interpretative criticism evocative then this study identifying the model of demolition objects architectural heritage in the Kesawan District. This study revealed and indicating the existence of a variant form of demolition model issues are amputation, inactivity, redesign, masking/facelift, visual blurring and architecture sprawl. A number of heritage objects originality 17.14% indicates the level of concern occurred in the demolition of Kesawan District. This study can be used as a toolo of preservation action and evaluation for all stakeholders and the Medan City Government.

The of the Selondang Kelapa Market aims to re-optimize the function of the market as before and develop it into a market with modern buildings and as regional tourism destination. The application of Tembilahan’s local potential and the Neo-Vernacular Architecture theme to buildings is expected to make the Selondang Kelapa Floating Market a city icon and landmark in Tembilahan City.

Abstract

Behavioral architecture is an essential approach in designing early childhood play spaces. Play is one of their favorite activities and supports social education. However, in Medan City, many playgroups do not support children's play activities regarding space, function, and a sense of safety and comfort for children and parents. Therefore, a building is needed that can accommodate various socially educational play activities for children in Medan City. Abstract

The construction of a shopping center in Padangsidimpuan aims to meet the growing needs of the urban population for modern and practical shopping facilities. Urban residents' interest in shopping centers, known as malls, is considered an appropriate choice, resulting in these places always being bustling with visitors from diverse backgrounds. To preserve traditional design elements, one of the steps taken is to implement the Neo-Vernacular design approach. This architectural approach has the ability to adapt well across various eras and building types. Shopping and entertainment centers are an excellent choice for applying the Neo-Vernacular architecture concept. Additionally, shopping and entertainment centers will become more appealing if they can reflect local historical and cultural values. In this way, the mall can become a new and proud icon for Padangsidimpuan
