Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of Al-Farabi’s educational philosophy on the development of teaching methods in Islamic religious education and to formulate an actionable pedagogical model based on his thought. Employing a qualitative library-research methodology, this investigation critically reviews primary and secondary sources pertaining to Al-Farabi’s educational philosophy and its relevance within a contemporary Islamic educational context. The findings reveal that Al-Farabi’s core principles namely the integration of reason and revelation, the concept of felicity (al-saʿādah), and the vision of the virtuous city (al-madīnah al-faḍīlah) provide a robust foundation for designing an integrated curriculum, positioning the teacher as a philosophical mediator, and cultivating a learning environment conducive to the formation of the insān kāmil (perfect human) and a civilized society. This study further proposes a novel theoretical framework entitled Falsafiyyah Tarbawiyyah, structured around three pillars: Taʿlīm al-Maʿqūl wa al-Manqūl (rational-textual instruction), Taḥzīb al-ʿAql wa al-Qalb (purification of intellect and heart), and Takwīn al-Mujtamaʿ al-Faḍīl (formation of an exemplary society). In conclusion, Al-Farabi’s educational philosophy proves not only theoretically pertinent but also practically applicable in developing holistic and transformative teaching methods for Islamic religious education, thereby addressing the challenges of modern Islamic pedagogy. The proposed model opens avenues for more innovative and contextually relevant educational practices.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and reconstruct Ibn Sina's thought on the methodology of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) and examine its application in the context of the digital era. The research employs a literature study method using content analysis and philosophical hermeneutics approaches to explore Ibn Sina’s works alongside contemporary literature on IRE and educational technology. The findings reveal that Ibn Sina’s methodological principles such as balancing theory and practice, adapting pedagogical methods to learner characteristics, and strengthening morality through exemplification are highly relevant for contextualization in digital Islamic education. The proposed Blended Spiritual-Connected Learning (BSCL) model integrates Ibn Sina’s traditional instructional philosophy with adaptive digital technologies, demonstrating improved effectiveness in both cognitive and affective learning dimensions. Furthermore, the development of the Quantum Tadabbur Framework (QTF) provides a theoretical bridge between spiritual values and the complexities of digital learning systems. In conclusion, the integration of Ibn Sina’s educational thought with digital technology not only enriches Islamic pedagogy but also offers a holistic, value-based approach to addressing the challenges of the digital age. The study recommends the development of educational technology and policy frameworks grounded in maqashid sharia principles to support the broader implementation of such learning models.

Abstract

The comparative study of esoteric interpretation (tafsir isyari) between Ahlussunnah and Shi’a reveals significant differences, both in substance and methodology. Despite these contrasts, a common ground between the two is the shared belief that esoteric interpretation is possible. However, this method can only be undertaken by those who are truly purified from sin and capable of profound contemplation, allowing them to perceive nothing but God in all aspects of life. Furthermore, any interpretation derived through this approach must ultimately be aligned with the textual sources of the Qur’an and Hadith. This study employs thematic, historical-critical, and comparative methods, while adopting a qualitative approach to analyze and compare the perspectives of Ahlussunnah and Shi’a on esoteric interpretation.
