Abstract

Indonesia is rapidly emerging as an international sport‑tourism destination, yet research on Sustainable Human Resource Management (S‑HRM) in this sector remains limited. Following PRISMA 2020, we conducted a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and bibliometric mapping (VOSviewer) on publications from 2020–2025 retrieved from Scopus, Publish or Perish, and Consensus AI. From 271 initial records, 20 peer‑reviewed articles met inclusion criteria and were synthesized qualitatively (NVivo) and quantitatively (bibliometrics). Findings show training and development dominate HRM discussions, while performance appraisal, compensation, and career pathways are underdeveloped. HRM topics are peripheral in the sport‑tourism literature, which concentrates on destination marketing and infrastructure. The review identifies geographic bias toward Java–Bali, a shortage of longitudinal legacy studies, and inconsistent HRM outcome metrics. We propose a conceptual S‑HRM model emphasizing long‑term capacity building, green training, and integration of local wisdom to avoid “white elephant” outcomes. Policy recommendations include national legacy targets, modular certification programs, and mandatory G‑HRM elements in event licensing.
