Abstract

Mosque architecture evolutively moves forward towards greater perfection in terms of its perfection as a building and as a means of implementing Islamic teachings from time to time. Al-Wahhab Old Mosque is an old mosque and one of the milestones of the founding of Bontang City, which was built inseparable from social values and has a uniqueness in its architecture and interior design. This research raises the issue of the form and style of the interior architecture of the Al-Wahhab Old Mosque by using interpretative qualitative methods, namely, parsing various cultural facts contained in the object of research. The results showed that the continuous development carried out on the interior architecture of the Al-Wahhab Old Mosque from 2001 AD until 2018 AD, the style of the mosque form has a mixture of two or more cultures that meet and influence each other (cultural acculturation), namely the ancient Javanese mosque (mihrab, liwan / prayer room, and portico), the style of pre-existing Hindu temple buildings (mosque entrances and windows), the style of ancient Kalimantan mosques (minarets or minarets), the style of traditional Banjar tribal houses in South Kalimantan (auxiliary building walls and gate column walls), the Jepara motif style (pulpit podium), and the Indian flow dome style (dome roof of the mosque gate).

Abstract

The office has a important significant role in daily activities. The office is where various work activities are carried out, such as processing data, collecting and distributing information to achieve organizational goals. Every institution needs a well-functioning office to carry out its activities. However, the implementation of the interior design of the UNU Kaltim Rector's Office has shortcomings that are not yet able to support the needs of workers. This has impact on worker satisfaction in optimizing their performance to carry out their activities. Researchers used descriptive qualitative methods regarding spatial psychology theory. The analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. After the research was completed, it continued by designing the interior of the UNU Kaltim rector's office using modern natural concepts and psychological aspects of space. Moreover, applying psychological aspects could improveemployee work productivity.

Abstract

Technological innovation in the modern era has fundamentally transformed working practices across various sectors. The rise of digitalization and the adoption of hybrid work systems have encouraged a more flexible approach to work, enabling people to operate from virtually anywhere. This Coworking Space design adopts the Design Thinking methodology—an empathetic, user-centered problem-solving approach that emphasizes iterative development. Rather than focusing on identifying problems, the primary objective is to gather concrete data regarding spatial organization and the core functions typically present in Coworking Spaces, particularly within the Samarinda region. The goal is to develop a shared workspace that promotes ergonomics, adaptability, and enhanced user productivity. The central design concept combines Biophilic and Zen Modern principles to cultivate a tranquil atmosphere through the integration of natural elements and a minimalist, balanced aesthetic. The selected materials emphasize both natural and semi-industrial characteristics, including wood, glass, stone, metal grilles, and exposed concrete. Spatial zoning is tailored according to functional needs, encompassing private rooms, both open and enclosed coworking areas, meeting rooms, a mini restaurant, lounge, pantry, and rooftop facilities—providing users with the flexibility to choose work environments that suit their preferences and requirements. This design aspires to serve as a modern, efficient, and adaptable workspace solution that also supports the psychological and physical well-being of its users.

Abstract

The education competition in Samarinda City, particularly in the Samarinda Seberang area, has been increasing every year. Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama (UNU) East Kalimantan, as one of the universities in the region, has been continuously developing its facilities, including the redesign of the interior of Campus I as the center of academic and administrative activities. The lobby located on the ground floor had not been optimally utilized, thus requiring a redesign to enhance its function, comfort, and aesthetic value.  The design method pioneered by Rosemary Kilmer was applied in this research consisted of analysis and synthesis. The analysis involved collecting physical and non-physical data through observations, interviews, and literature studies to identify spatial needs. The synthesis was carried out by developing a design concept based on the analysis results to produce appropriate design solutions. The adopted concept was a modern minimalist style, emphasizing simplicity in form, color, material, and detail to create a clean, efficient, and effective visualization. The final design shows a more organized lobby layout, appropriately arranged furniture, and the use of an up-ceiling with hidden LED lighting to create a spacious, comfortable, and visually appealing atmosphere. This design was expected to enhance the interior quality of Campus I of Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama East Kalimantan significantly and serve as a reference for the development of other spaces within the campus.
