Abstract

This study examines the role of spiritual practices among Generation Z in their use of social media. The study used a qualitative approach, collecting data through interviews with informants consisting of nine religious education teachers and 20 high school students. The research questions were distributed through Google Forms. The study findings revealed that spiritual practices, including prayer, meditation, and reflective writing, contribute to the development of positive emotions, positive behaviors, and positive social relationships among Generation Z. The development of these three aspects influences their decisions regarding social media use. Positive emotions foster positive behaviors, which in turn influence how Generation Z interacts with others in a positive way. This study offers practical implications for teachers in mentoring Generation Z and for Generation Z themselves, especially in making decisions about social media use. Future research is needed to further explore the role of spiritual practices among Generation Z in their use of social media to provide new insights into the role of spiritual practices in shaping the next generation.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of sustainability leadership and school-community partnerships on organizational sustainability. This study also examines the influence of human resource competency on school-community partnerships. Data collection in this study used a survey with a questionnaire. The determination of the sample for this study follows the opinion of Mwenda et al. (2023), namely managing the target population using a census approach which means that all existing work units are research samples. This study is a study at the work unit level, so the sample determination uses a census approach, namely if the population is less than 200 units, all work units are samples (Israel, 1992). The research sample consisted of 20 work units of vice principals from five schools based on certain religions in Java. Hypothesis testing in this study used partial least squares structural equality modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings of this study are that there is a significant relationship between sustainability leadership and school-community partnerships with organizational sustainability and the influence of human resource competency on school-community partnerships. The practical implications of this research for principals and school administrators are that sustainability leadership and school-community partnerships build organizational sustainability and human resource competency builds school-community partnerships. In future research, the same thing can be studied in terms of indirect relationships, either through mediators or mediation.

Abstract

Achieving goals is crucial in any organization. Therefore, ideally, any organization should remain sustainable. Schools are one type of organization that faces threats to their sustainability. School stagnation is a phenomenon that threatens the sustainability of schools. The primary phenomenon is that schools are unable to sustainably survive due to a lack of new students and costs perceived as prohibitive by parents. On the one hand, when schools remain sustainable, they provide many contributions to society, specifically through various inclusive, equitable, and quality learning opportunities. The purpose of this study is to answer the research problem, namely the influence of sustainable leadership on school organizational sustainability through human resource competencies and school-community partnerships as sequential mediators. This study is a study of work units in schools, so the research sample consists of 20 work units in Senior High Schools. Data collection for this study uses a census approach, meaning all members of the population are used as research data. In the high school where the research took place, there are 20 work units, all of which are used as data for analysis in this study. This study uses partial least squares structural equality modeling (PLS-SEM) to test the hypothesis. The findings of this study indicate a significant, positive, and strong relationship between sustainable leadership and organizational sustainability, mediated sequentially by human resource competency and school-community partnerships. This study has practical implications for school principals and work unit coordinators to recognize the benefits of sustainable leadership, human resource competency, and school-community partnerships in building school organizational sustainability. Further research is needed to examine the influence of sustainable leadership on organizational sustainability from the perspective of indirect relationships, both through mediators and mediation, by expanding the sample or using other variables. Future research can also examine the same topic with a qualitative approach. Keywords:    sustainability leadership; organizational sustainability; human resource competence; school-community partnership.

Abstract

Educational institutions increasingly face pressure to improve organizational performance amid changing stakeholder expectations and rapid digitalization. This study examines the moderating role of digital transformation in the relationships between workplace spirituality, sustainable leadership, and organizational performance. Using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), data were collected from school leaders and unit heads at educational institutions in Indonesia. The results indicate that workplace spirituality has a significant positive effect on organizational performance (? = 0.842; p 0.001), while sustainable leadership does not show a significant direct influence (? = –0.225; p 0.05). Digital transformation also has a positive direct effect on organizational performance (? = 0.288; p 0.05), but does not moderate the relationships between workplace spirituality or sustainable leadership and organizational performance. These findings indicate that school performance is primarily shaped by value-based and relational factors, with digital transformation contributing independently as a supportive capability. Practically, schools should strengthen human-centered values while aligning digital initiatives with institutional practices. Theoretically, digital transformation operates as a complementary capability rather than altering the influence of leadership or workplace spirituality.
