Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study the Lanna art form, design showcase in Lanna art style and evaluate the satisfaction of those interested in buying a Lanna style showcase. The Lanna art forms that we studied are Lung Piang, Fat-Short, Flora patterns, Red color, Dark brown-black and gold patterns. Also the wood that has been using is Teak wood material, which is medium softwood. When analyzed together with the conceptual framework to design a showcase of Lanna art style, with experts and professionals join the evaluation of draft design 3 sets 9 drafts and eliminate to 1 draft only in order to use it as a prototype. Use descriptive statistics to analyze and summarize data. The research found that showcase in Lanna art style, draft B which uses the design concept of Lanna art has overall result in the highest level ( = 4.62, S.D. = 0.52). Then this draft is taking to produce the prototype and evaluate the satisfaction, the research found that satisfaction level in terms of conservation, inheritance, and pride of wisdom in art and cultural is at the highest level ( = 4.41, S.D. = 0.69), followed by beauty. And characteristics has satisfaction level at high level ( = 4.25, S.D. = 0.78). Safety, functional, structural and material satisfaction is at a high level ( = 3.97, S.D. = 0.70).

Abstract

The present research was aimed to investigate the space and accident risk factors of elderly in home bathroom, risk problems, and the current functional limitations for elderly. The study investigated spaces of bathrooms in 30 homes currently living by elderly by conducting an assessment of proper bathroom environmental features, and interviews with the elderly at home. Results of assessment of bathroom spaces of all homes under the study categorized into 5 aspects of importance suggested a low level of propriety ( = 2.22 , S.D.=0.85). For sub-aspects of importance, suitable size and proportion were at a low level ( = 2.18 , S.D.=0.73), and the design materials were at a lowest level ( = 1.26 , S.D.=0.41). In conclusion, all of the studied spaces were found with inappropriate environment to accommodate the use by elderly. The researcher recognized the problems, roles, and importance of involved individuals and thus proposed guidelines for the design of home bathroom under the universal design concept so as to guide good standards as a key factor for taking improvement action for accident prevention and preparation of sound environment for elderly.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the conversion of deteriorated postal jacket materials into an applied product. Postal jackets are used by the Thailand Post Co., Ltd, and can be converted into a solid sheet material. In this study, a conceptual framework was used to design a product, enlisting senior experts in materials and production to evaluate 3 design drafts to create a suitable prototype. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze and summarize the obtained data. The results found that an office furniture set design, utilizing the design concept of a flying envelope, a symbol (brand) and a horizon, was deemed a unique decoration for the office of Thailand Post Co., Ltd. This product design had the highest overall suitability ( = 4.71, S.D.= 0.21), with user and executive satisfaction rating the designs aesthetics highest ( = 4.31, S.D. =0.76), followed by structure, function, and identity, respectively.
