Abstract

Bodily communication affects the relationship and exchanges between people and encourages cooperation throughoutsigns, symbols, facial expression, spaces and distances. It has psychology, social and cultural aspects and the fundamentalsare: context, sender, receiver, channel and code in a logical and analog form of manifestation. Volleyball is very fast sports gamebecause of the compulsory rule of rejected touch of the ball and the little dimension of the game court and in this case the bodilycommunication could be an important phenomenon. The scientific literature survey does not found any evidence about appliedstudy on both sports and bodily communication skills, thus could be useful to investigate by integrated vision. The purpose is toverify if any technical skills of the attack of volleyball may be influenced by bodily communication. The method is theoreticalargumentative,in one hand, and experimental, in the other one, by using performance analysis methodology and analyst team. This approach is innovative and complex and could be a partial solution to quantitative and qualitative question in evaluationprocess of any sports. The result categorizes the bodily communication in functional, diagnostic and tactics mode and thepercentage is over ¼ of all outcomes and it has divided in three technical skills.Discussion is based by studies of the perceptionand action, human movement, motor control and learning, anticipation skills of motor imagery. Its development is desirable toenlarge the knowledge on these filed. Its development is desirable to enlarge the knowledge on the field of human sciences.

Abstract

Too often in sports the qualitative aspects of performance are addressed with superficially and approximation becauseit believes that it is not scientifically possible to explain everything that is not easily quantifiable and expressible in the form ofnumbers. In volleyball, the ball is rejected, both among members of a team and between the two opposing teams, with afrequency significantly greater than in other team sports. For this reason, in volleyball, not immediately quantifiable aspects ofthe game action are greater than other team sports. The qualitative aspects in volleyball concern technical skills, tacticaldecisions, strategy and more. Among these, non-verbal communication has not yet been considered as an object of study andthus not yet investigated. This study provides the initiation of an integrated research between social science and sports scienceto allow technicians, coaches and physical education teachers to learn more about another important aspect of quality for thepurposes of training and education. The aim is to identify applications of the principles of nonverbal communication, which hasits own epistemological framework, to volleyball through the systematic analysis of specific game situations. The methodintegrates the theoretical-argumentative and descriptive approach. Communicative events attributable to non-verbalcommunication were classified into three categories: communication tactics, functional communication and diagnosticcommunication. The frequency and outcome of these events were investigated in relation to three specific volleyball technicalskills related to nonverbal communication: a) the second ball goes to the opposite court instead of setting for attacking; b) theattack as fast as possible in the middle of the net; c) the off speed hit instead of power spike over the block; The results show asignificant incidence of communicative events related to non-verbal communication on the final outcome and, therefore, suggestthat non-verbal communication is subject of interest to technicians, coaches and physical education teachers

Abstract

This study is part of a larger project designed to assess the effectiveness of the use of exergames in the teaching ofmotor activities. The project starts with an overview of the state of the art of exergames and the influence of psychologicalmodels of the movement in software design. The experimental section of the project involves the creation of 3 exergameseducational, of which:an exergame related to visuomotor integration, on the basis of tests as Bender Gestalt and VMI, anexergame dedicated to test, in augmented / virtual environments, some commonly accepted principles in motor control (speedaccuracytrade-off, Hick's law, stimulus – response compatibility, Fitts' law), and an exergame related to the acquisition ofcognitive skills through the involvement of the whole body (reading – writing skills). In this general framework, this study locatesitself as the scientific starting basis, providing an overview of the literature on exergames (from which does not seem to bepresent exergames specifically designed for use in teaching of motor activity) and a summary of the psychological models ofmovement
