Abstract

Voting is the main form of political participation in democratic societies and the study of voting behavior is a highlyspecialized sub-field in political and social science. The study was concerned with the reasons why people vote the way they do.The main objectives of the present study were to find out the factors which affect the voting behavior & to explore the factors thatconstitute political affiliation in District Faisalabad. A sample of 160 household respondents was selected systematically fromDistrict Faisalabad through multistage sampling technique. Specifically explored through this study the relationship of votingbehavior with education, internal changes in the party, voter’s satisfaction and biradrism are those factors that had strong effecton voting decisions. More than fifty percent (55%) of the respondents vote for the candidate not for the party and (53.1%) of thevoters change their behavior due to the internal changes in the party. The value of Chi-Square and Gamma showed a significantand strong association between voter satisfaction with particular political party, favour of biradrism and internal change in theparty are strongly associated with voter's behavior.

Abstract

Childhood immunization protects children from a variety of serious and potentially fatal and life threateningcommunicable diseases. Now immunization of children has been one of the securest and most efficient measures againstavertable diseases in all over the world including Pakistan. In many societies where more than one racial, ethnic and religiousminorities group exist, and one group is Inclined to dominant the others. This generally conduces to social and economicdisfavor for the secondary groups. That’s why this study was designed to explore the gap toward health facilities and assess theparental knowledge, belief and attitude toward childhood immunization. A sample of 160 Christian minorities was selectedconveniently from District Faisalabad through multistage sampling techniques. Majority of the respondents 95% were aware ofchild immunization, and 81.3% respondents agreed that child immunization were impotent for the children for their healthy future.85% of the respondents were in the opinion that childhood immunization is more beneficial than harmful, and 90% of therespondents confessed that child immunization is not prohibited in our religion.

Abstract

Agriculture plays a pivotal role in the national economy of Pakistan. 65% of total population of Pakistan is living invillages and their major source of livelihood depends upon agriculture. Pakistan has the largest world irrigation system itsirrigation strength three times more than that of Russia. But unfortunately, Pakistani farmers are facing serious water shortageproblem in these days. The main objectives of the present study were to explore the effects of scarcity of canal water on theyield of different type of major crops and assess the affect of ground water on crops and its socio economic implication on thefarmers’ lives. A sample of 160 household farmers was selected through multistage sampling techniques. Specifically throughthis study, farmers’ survival due to the shortage of irrigation water highly depends upon tube well water. Due to this phenomenonnot only farmers have to pay lot of money in the form of fuel but also tube well water negatively affects the crops yield. Theresearchers also found out the socio economic problems due to the water crises such as irrigation water disputes, lesscultivation, lack of interest of livestock and these notions also badly affect their crops yield as well as their socio economiccondition.

Abstract

In this research study three dimensional (3D) finite element analysis are performed on a flexible pavement section for different material properties, temperature and loading conditions. The main objective of this study is to predict the rut depth under different conditions of temperature, loadings and material properties. Three dimensional finite element model of flexible pavement is developed using ABAQUS to predict rut depth. The pavement system is assumed to be an elastic multi-layers system with each layer being isotropic, homogeneous with specified Resilient Modulus (Mr) and Poisson ratio (µ). With the exception of the bottom subgrade layer, each layer is extending to an unlimited horizontal extent and has a finite thickness. The pavement system analyze in this study for a cyclic load of 10000 cycles taken as 0.01sec per cycle. Standard Axle Load (ESAL) of 18 kips (80 kN) loading on an axle with a dual set of tires, the wheel spacing is 13.78 in (350 mm) with a tire contact pressure of 100 psi (0.69 MPa) is used. After performing a series of analysis the results showed that rut depth increases with increase in temperature and loading and decreases by using base stabilizer. Doi: 10.28991/cej-2021-03091727 Full Text: PDF
