Abstract

Introduction: Patient satisfaction is the patient's response to evaluating the perceived mismatch between initial expectations and perceived actual performance. All patients should feel satisfied with the services they receive. The fact that many patients say they are not satisfied. One of the factors contributing to dissatisfaction is empathy. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between nurses and the level of patient satisfaction at the Burneh Health Center, Bangkalan Regency in 2017.Methods: This type of research is an analytic study with a cross sectional design. The study population was 48 patients treated at Burneh Health Center. The sample size was 43 people with a sampling technique using quota sampling. Data collection using a questionnaire. The statistical test in this study used the Spearman Rank test with a significance level of α = 0.05.Results: From the analysis obtained, most (60.5%) or 26 people said that nurses' empathy was not good, (20.9%) or 9 people said that nurses' empathy was good, and (18.6%) or 8 people said that nurses' empathy was very good. good. Most of the patients (67.4%) or 29 people said they were not satisfied, (18.6%) or 8 people said they were satisfied, and (14.0%) or 6 people said they were very satisfied. The Spearman Rank statistical test shows the value of p (0.003) <α (0.05), meaning that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. This shows that there is a significant relationship between nurses' empathy and the level of patient satisfaction at Burneh Health Center, Bangkalan Regency in 2017.Conclusion: Nurse empathy is sufficient to influence patient satisfaction. For this reason, nurses are expected to increase their empathy skills, so that patient satisfaction can be achieved as a whole in determining the quality of health services.

Abstract

Introduction: coming to an old age a person will experience physical, psychological, and biological setbacks. Psychological deterioration which is often found in the elderly is depression (Purbowinoto, 2010). One of the non-pharmacological therapies that can be applied to reduce depression levels in the elderly is to use keroncong music therapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in depression levels in the elderly before and after being given keroncong music therapy at UPTD Griya Werdha Jambangan Surabaya.Method: the method used was analytical pre-experimental research with pre testpost test design. The independent variable in this study was depression in the elderly, while the independent variable was keroncong music therapy. The population is 40 elderly with 36 samples in the UPTD Griya Werdha Jambangan Surabaya taken using purposive sampling techniques. The data was taken using a questionnaire. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Rank Test statistical test.Results: from the results of the study, it was found that there was a difference in the levels of depressionin the elderly before and after being given keroncong music therapy at UPTD Griya Werdha Jambangan Surabaya with a significant value of = 0.0001 lower than p= 0.05 (p <α). Before the therapy or treatment, most of the elderly experienced depression levels with as many as 11 respondents (30.6%) and after the treatment most of them experienced depression level with as many as 16 respondents (44.4%).Conclusion: it could be concluded that there was a difference in levels of depression in the elderly before and after being given keroncong music therapy at UPTD Griya Werdha Jambangan Surabaya. For this reason, music therapy can be an option to decrease the depression level in the elderly at UPTD Griya Werdha Jambangan Surabaya.

Abstract

Introduction: Most women often experience menstrual period complaints such as menstrual pain or dysmenorrhea. One of the non-pharmacological ways to lower the pain level in a person experiencing dysmenorrhea or menstrual pain is lavender aromatherapy. Aromatherapy lavender is a method that uses lavender essential oil containing linalool and linalyl acetate which is beneficial in reducing painful menstruation. The purpose of this research is to know the difference in dysmenorrhea intensity before and after giving lavender aromatherapy to a nursing student at a higher nursing education in Surabaya, Indonesia. Method: This study used a pre-pre-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test design method. The research was done on 103 nursing students who have undergone dysmenorrhea using a quota sampling technique. Analysis of the data used the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with α- levels significance = 0.05 (p=0.05). Results: The results showed a difference in menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) before and after giving lavender aromatherapy. p-value was <0.001 which means there is a difference in menstrual pain intensity (dysmenorrhea) before and after giving lavender aromatherapy to a nursing student at a higher nursing education in Surabaya, Indonesia. Conclusions: Lavender aromatherapy is reducing menstrual pain intensity in the nursing student at STIKES Artha Bodhi Iswara Surabaya. Lavender aromatherapy is one of the non-pharmacological methods that can reduce the pain intensity of dysmenorrhea in women.

Abstract

Introduction: Globally, It was estimated that one in three adults experienced insomnia. In Indonesia, 10% or equal to 28 million of the population was reported this particular sleep problem.    Physical illness, environment, drugs used, and stress were reported as the major cause of insomnia. This study aims to analyse the relationship between stress and the incidence of insomnia among elderly living in a nursing, Surabaya, Indonesia. Method: This study applied cross-sectional approach with correlation descriptive design. Population in this study was older adults living in a nursing home. A total of 51 participant recruited through a random simple sampling was involved. The independent variable was stress and dependent was insomnia. A self-report questionnaire was used to collect data from the study participants. Data was statistically test by Contingency Coefficient. Results: There is no relationship between stress and the incidence of insomnia in the elderly (p=0.267). Insomnia might relate to others factors that not explored in the study. Conclusions: The current study highlights insomnia among elderly  is not related to stress events. Even insomnia was a common, nurses need to identify other factors that can contribute to insomnia experienced by the elderly. Thus, further study examines insomnia among elderly is warranty.
